Best Laptop To Play Civilization 6

If you love strategy games, then you must have heard about the famous game Civilization 6. The game has a huge fan following, and it is one of the most played strategy games in the world. The good thing about this game is that it is optimized for almost every laptop.

Thus, if your laptop can run Steam, then you can easily play Civilization 6 on it. However, just like any other game, Civilization 6 will run better on some laptops compared to others.

If you have ever played this game on an old laptop, then you must be familiar with the pop-ups and laggy game-play. This is because your laptop cannot handle the game properly. So if you are looking forward to playing this masterpiece of a game without any issues, then you should consider buying a new laptop.

The ASUS ROG Strix G15 is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop. It weighs 2.3kg, which makes it slightly heavier than other laptops of its size, but still lightweight enough to be comfortably portable. It’s made of plastic, but the build quality is solid and sturdy. The unit comes with a 240Hz display that gives visuals a smooth feel when playing fast-paced games, such as first-person shooters and racing titles. Performance

  • Intel Core i7-10750H processor, six cores and 12 threads, 4.5GHz all-core boost
  • 15.6” FHD display with 144Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB PCIe SSD
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card with 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM
  • NVIDIA Optimus technology

Keyboard

The keyboard on the Strix G15 feels comfortable to type on and plays well with a wide range of games. It’s also backlit, which may seem like a basic feature, but you wouldn’t believe how many gaming laptops don’t have backlit keyboards. The G15 manages to pack a ton of keys into its tenkeyless layout (no dedicated number pad), so there are plenty of options for macros and shortcuts for your favorite games.

Display

  • Brightness: This is a measure of how much light the laptop emits. The brightness of your laptop may affect how comfortable it is to view in various situations, such as at home versus in a brightly-lit office.
  • Refresh rate: This is measured in hertz (Hz) and refers to the maximum number of times per second that the screen updates with new information. A higher refresh rate will make moving images appear smoother and less jittery, which may improve viewing experiences like playing video games or watching movies and TV shows.
  • Resolution: Measured in pixels, resolution refers to the number of dots that make up an image onscreen, or how detailed that image is. The higher number of pixels means a more lifelike image with finer details, but also a more demanding workload for your computer; if you’re doing CPU-intensive tasks like video editing or 3D modeling and rendering, you’ll want to keep this in mind when choosing your laptop.

Battery life

Battery life is very short.

Verdict

The ROG Strix G15 is a fantastic laptop, and one of the best in its class. If you’re not interested in spending the extra $300 on some of the higher-end features that come with the Zephyrus, this laptop is almost anything you could ask for. It has capable gaming performance, good battery life, and a nice display. With its sturdy build quality and responsive keyboard, it’s also a great option for productivity.

For many buyers who are looking for something to do both work and play on, this laptop fits the bill nicely—but if you’re looking for something specifically to game with without compromise or added productivity perks at an affordable price point, there are better options out there. The Dell G5 15 SE is worth considering because it offers comparable performance at a lower price with just enough compromises to justify it; however you should consider carefully if gaming performance is your highest priority when buying a new laptop.

The ASUS ROG Strix G15 is one of the best gaming laptops in the market right now.

When it comes to gaming laptops, you can either pay a premium and get high-end gaming performance or save your money and get a “regular” laptop with less powerful hardware. Thankfully, the ASUS ROG Strix G15 is one of the best gaming laptops in the market right now and easily delivers high-end performance at an affordable price that’s hard to beat. The ASUS ROG Strix G15 is one of the best laptops for its price, which makes it one of my favorite items. It has everything you’d want from a laptop at this price point: an excellent display panel, powerful CPU & GPU for more than 60 fps in most modern AAA games at 1080p, a comfortable keyboard with per key RGB lighting, plenty of ports to plug all your peripherals into, and more.

Unfortunately, it’s hard to find in stock right now due to high demand from both gamers and professionals who need a good laptop for work.

Pros and Cons of ASUS ROG Strix G15 Gaming Laptop

Pros:

  • The laptop has very good performance
  • The laptop’s keyboard is very good

Cons:

  • The battery life could be better. Not the worst, but not the best. Also, it charges slowly and only includes a 90W power adapter in the box. A larger 180W charger would’ve been nice, especially considering how much power this thing sucks up when gaming.
  • The trackpad is a bit of a letdown. It doesn’t feel great to use and it occasionally jumps around while you’re typing, which can lead to unintentional clicks if your palms brush against it while typing.
  • No webcam included with the laptop (some laptops do). I understand that most people won’t care about this since most people already have phones with great cameras built-in, but I personally like having my webcam attached to my monitor so that I don’t accidentally knock my phone over every time I want to make a call on Zoom or something like that.
  • Overall plastic build–feels pretty cheap compared to other laptops in its price range (the Dell XPS 15 is an example of one that feels more premium). This probably isn’t as big of an issue for gamers who tend to keep their computers at home vs taking them on-the-go all the time, but still worth noting for those who will take their Strix G15 out often or hope to resell it down the road someday.
  • Bottom line? If you’re looking for a powerful gaming laptop and can look past some of these design issues/shortcomings then you’ll love this computer! But if you’re someone who values usability/ergonomics above all else then there are other options out there (like the aforementioned XPS 15) which might be more your speed–just know that they won’t give quite as good performance as this baby right here!

Drawbacks of ASUS ROG Strix G15 Gaming Laptop

The fact that the ASUS ROG Strix G15 is a gaming laptop means it’s going to be a bit thicker and heavier than alternatives. The ASUS ROG Strix G15 is 0.9 inches thick and weighs 5.3 pounds. While this makes it easy for you to game at home, it’s not so great for long commutes or bringing your laptop on a road trip. If you want something more portable, consider getting an ultrabook instead.

The Intel Core i7-10750H is a high-end processor for laptops with six cores based on the Comet Lake architecture (CML-H, 4th generation of Skylake). It was announced in late 2019 and is the fastest 15 Watt Comet Lake processor. The four smaller cores are still based on the older Skylake microarchitecture and therefore offer only minor improvements over the previous generations (Whiskey Lake and Coffee Lake). In contrast, the two big cores are based on the newer Sunny Cove microarchitecture that was introduced with Ice Lake and should offer noticeable IPC improvements. Compared to a similar 8th Gen Whiskey Lake CPU, the 10th Gen Comet Lake chip also offers higher clock speeds at comparable power consumption levels.

Pros:

  • Screen is great, very vibrant color and high screen refresh rate (240hz).
  • Battery life is okay given the specs of this computer. I can get about 2 hours of battery life with light usage which is not bad for the hardware components in this laptop.
  • The touch pad works really well with windows gestures. You can scroll 4 directions or even use 3 fingers to switch between tabs on your browser without having to touch the keyboard. This helps tremendously when you are typing a lot on the keyboard and also want to navigate at the same time.

Cons:

  • The fan vents are on top of the laptop which means that if you have it resting on your lap, it will get moderately hot in a short amount of time especially if you are gaming or running any intensive programs (like after effects rendering).

Drawbacks of MSI GS66 Stealth 10SE-039 15.6″ 240Hz 3ms Ultra Thin and Light Gaming Laptop

As much as we love this laptop here are some things that could be better:

  • The build quality is great but the laptop design itself is not very original. It looks similar to other MSI gaming laptops, in fact, it looks a lot like the GS65. The only difference is that the logo on top of the lid is bigger and there’s a new grill pattern under the system. Some people might find it weird that MSI kept using the same chassis for both laptops, especially since they are not cheap so they should feel premium. We also don’t like that this product has no RGB lighting at all.
  • There’s no webcam which might be annoying for some users who don’t have an external camera to use with it.

Operating SystemWindows 10 Home
Human Interface InputKeyboard

ColorAbyss Black

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is a budget gaming laptop that’s easy to recommend. It has the latest Intel Core i7 CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, which provide good performance at 1080p. The laptop offers solid build quality and a comfortable keyboard, plus a 256GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive. The battery life isn’t great, but you can get around five hours out of it, which is decent considering its price.

The Helios 300 also has a few drawbacks. Its display has Aqmited viewing angles and some input lag in games, so it could be better for work than play. And like most affordable gaming laptops, the sound quality is poor: tinny and distorted when cranked up all the way on our unit. That said, plenty of people will be able to overlook these flaws considering how well the Helios 300 performs in other areas.

For around $1,000 (£899; AU$1,499), the Helios 300 is fairly well-equipped with an Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU with 6GB of VRAM. There are two memory slots: one occupied by an 8GB stick but leaving one open if you want to upgrade up to 32GB in total (as opposed to 16GB). You also get 256GB of NVMe solid-state storage (SSD) paired with 1TB hard drive for extra storage space — enough for multiple AAA game titles along with your favorite movies and TV shows

CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H

CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H

The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the component that interprets and executes instructions. It’s the brains of the computer. The CPU performs arithmetic and logic operations, basic calculations, it’s also how you delete your browser history.

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB GDDR5); Intel UHD Graphics 630

You don’t want to skimp on graphics, and the Helios 300 delivers with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. This is a great option for those who are looking for a low-end gaming laptop. The GPU offers solid modern performance that’s roughly equivalent to an older console system like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

It also boasts 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space, which is a decent amount considering its price point. You can upgrade it as well if you have any need to store more games or media files.

RAM: 16GB

>16GB of RAM!

Bigger and better in every way: more powerful 8th Gen Intel Core processors, next generation GeForce GTX 1060 graphics, and a stunning IPS display with ultra-fast 144Hz refresh rate.

Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS

The Acer Predator Helios 300’s 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080 IPS display is a bit dim, though it handled brightness changes well in our testing. I watched the trailer for The Lion King on the laptop and found that while it handled larger scenes like Pride Rock really well, the dark areas near Simba’s face were a bit too dim to make out.

I experienced no problems with color accuracy when watching the trailer for Toy Story 4. Buzz Lightyear looked as vibrant as ever in his signature green and white astronaut suit. The bright blue of Woody’s cowboy outfit popped against his bright yellow vest and red bandana, as did Bo Peep’s pink dress.

Storage: 256GB SSD + 1TB SSHD

Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop, Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD + 1TB SSHD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060-6GB, 15.6″ Full HD G-SYNC Display – G3-571

Pros:

• Fast performance; 144Hz display; customizable RGB lights; decent battery life; low price.

• Cons:

• Can get a bit warm under heavy load. No Thunderbolt 3 or SD card reader.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is a budget gaming laptop that’s easy to recommend. It has the right mix of power and design to set it apart from other midrange gaming systems. We’d like to see the GPU fans go quieter during gaming sessions and could use more ports and better thermals under high GPU loads

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is a budget gaming laptop that’s easy to recommend.

First, the basics. The Predator Helios 300 comes in a couple different flavors, but both are built around a 15.6-inch 1080p display—not 4K or high-dynamic range (HDR), but good enough for most gaming needs and not terribly taxing on the hardware inside. I tested the entry-level model, which pairs an Intel Core i7-8750H processor with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics, 12GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. If you want to get into more detail (and trust me, I will), that’s an eighth generation six-core Coffee Lake CPU and the popular 6GB version of Nvidia’s Pascal architecture GPU.

If you don’t need that much power right now, Acer also offers a model that switches out the GTX 1060 for a GTX 1050 Ti GPU while dropping the RAM down to 8GB—the $999 PH315-51 model at Best Buy is one example of this configuration. You can save some money on paper by going with this less powerful setup, but it’s not nearly as futureproofed thanks to its lack of VR support and limited multitasking potential from just 8GB of memory.

Pros and Cons of Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop,

Pros

Powerful overall performance

Smooth gameplay

Attractive design

Affordable price

Cons

Short battery life

Poor speakers

No G-Sync

No USB Type-C

Drawbacks of Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop,

Unfortunately, there are a few drawbacks to the Acer Predator. It lacks a high-end graphics card, which means it offers only modest gaming performance at the highest graphics settings. Additionally, the laptop is not powerful enough for 4K gaming, so you may want to opt for a less expensive laptop with fewer bells and whistles if your sole purpose is playing games. The plastic exterior and interior also give the laptop an overall cheap feel. Despite this, it still manages to provide a decent gaming experience for its price point. A final issue worth mentioning is that it has a very small battery life that lasts only 2–3 hours on heavy use; therefore you have to keep it plugged into power most of time if you’re not just casually browsing the web or watching videos.

4-zone RGB AlienFX lighting – You can personalize the look of your laptop with a library of gaming themes to select from. Synchronize lighting effects with other Alienware hardware.

Graphics and Memory

Graphics & Memory:

You have a choice of graphics cards, which means you can choose between power and affordability. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 offers the best budget-friendly gaming performance, while the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6 is a bit more powerful and still quite affordable. Alternately, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8GB GDDR6 has even better performance at a competitive price point. If you want to max out your gaming experience without going over budget, select the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8GB GDDR6 for an ultra-fast machine that will handle even the most graphically intensive games. Of course, if you want to make sure nothing holds you back from playing your favorite games for years to come (and money is no object), then choose between two high-end options: the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 8GB GDDR6 or dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8GB GDDR6s to give yourself an extra boost in graphical rendering capabilities.

Processor

The Intel Core i7-10750H is a 6-Core processor with a base clock speed of 2.6GHz and a max boost clock speed of 5.0GHz. The 10750H also has 12MB of cache and overclocking up to 5.1GHz. This processor was released by Intel in 2020 as part of the Comet Lake line, which features the same basic architecture as Intel’s previous Skylake processors (which were released in 2015). However, the Comet Lake processors offer higher performance per watt than their predecessors, which means that for two processors with similar performance ratings, you’ll want to go with the one from Comet Lake so your laptop lasts longer on battery power.

Audio

The Alienware m15 R3 FHD Gaming Laptop has a Realtek ALC3204 with Nahimic 3 Audio. This can support 2.1 channel configurations through stereo speakers with a subwoofer, or 7.1 channel configurations through the HDMI out.

Additionally, the laptop includes two ports: one for speaker/headphone/line out and one for microphone/line in.

Storage and Memory

The Alienware m15 R3 15.6inch FHD Gaming Laptop has a 1TB SSD with a capacity of 1000GB. It is not an NVMe SSD and therefore has slightly slower read/write times than an NVMe SSD would. The laptop also contains 16GB of memory, so you won’t have to worry about lag when running multiple programs and games at the same time.

Display

Display

The Alienware 15.6inch FHD Gaming Laptop features a 15.6inch display with a 1920 by 1080 pixel resolution, an LCD screen, a 144 hertz refresh rate, and an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Wireless Technologies

A laptop’s wireless technologies determine its connectivity capabilities, including:

  • Internet access
  • Transferring files between computers
  • Connecting to other devices (e.g. phones and printers) without a cable

A laptop’s wireless technologies include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi; both enable your laptop to connect wirelessly to other devices.

The Alienware m15 R3 is a powerful and portable gaming laptop.

The Alienware m15 R3 is a powerful and portable gaming laptop.

It’s expensive and it’s not the best option for everyone, but if you’re looking to play games at high settings while you’re on the go, this is one of the best options out there. It has a great display, a powerful processor, great design and build quality, an excellent battery life, and an awesome keyboard. The sound quality is also good enough to make movies enjoyable.

However, this laptop isn’t without its difficulties: having recently switched to Windows 10 makes it difficult to find some of the settings that may be required for everyday use. If you don’t need all these features or don’t have time to set them up yourself (the m15 can be customized with your own settings), we recommend getting something less expensive like our top pick instead.

Pros and Cons of Alienware m15 R3 15.6inch FHD Gaming Laptop

Pros:

  • It has excellent hardware and performs really well in gaming.
  • It is really impressive with its good design, thin and light body that gives it an edge against other laptops.
  • The Alienware 15R3 is a high-end laptop that comes with the complete package. It has a killer design, powerful hardware and an innovative OLED display that makes it one of the best gaming laptops on the market.

Cons:

  • However, there are some drawbacks to this laptop as well even though they are minor issues like having only two USB Type-A ports which might not be enough for some users. Also, the battery life was just about average which could improve by tuning down some settings a bit but then again you don’t buy a gaming laptop for its battery life now do you.

The Razer Blade Pro 17’s keyboard isn’t bad by any means, but it’s not great either. The keys are just a bit mushy and I didn’t feel as much feedback as I would’ve liked. However, it was still satisfying to type on and I didn’t have any issues during my testing. One thing that does stand out about the keyboard is the secondary functions for each key on the F1-F12 row. You can use these in conjunction with the Fn key to control screen brightness, volume and other important aspects of your laptop—like turning off your webcam or disabling Wi-Fi.

For some reason, Razer decided to drastically shrink down the size of its touchpad from 4.2 x 2.4 inches on last year’s model (the Razer Blade Pro 17) to 3 x 1.6 inches on this year’s model (the 2020 Razer Blade Pro 17). This is a big problem because it makes using this touchpad extremely difficult—especially since it has very narrow left and right click buttons along with no dedicated buttons for scrolling up or down documents or web pages. Even though there are gestures that you can perform using two fingers, they aren’t as effective as dedicated buttons. For example, if you want to scroll up a page you have to swipe two fingers upwards even though one finger would suffice if there were dedicated buttons for scrolling up/down pages or documents around the touchpad area like most laptops have these days (and most gaming laptops for that matter).

I wish Razer had done something about battery life because this laptop doesn’t last very long when unplugged from an outlet at all: just 2 hours and 29 minutes when we surfed the web continuously over Wi-Fi at 150 nits of screen brightness which is far below our 4:22 budget laptop average and also lower than what we got from other gaming laptops like the Origin Evo15S (3:42)

Conclusion

Overall, this powerful laptop is an excellent choice for gaming enthusiasts. With its top-notch design, screen and performance; you can’t really ask for more. It’s a contender with the Alienware Area 51m R2 as the best gaming laptop of 2020 despite its poor battery life. If you can adjust your gaming habits to gaming on AC power and set aside your cash, it won’t disappoint.

This laptop is a beast that kills it at gaming, but it can be tricky to use in a conventional setup.

Pros and Cons of Razer Blade Pro 17 Gaming Laptop 2020

Overall, the Razer Blade Pro 17 is a fantastic gaming laptop with impressive performance and an eye-catching 4K display. However, the high price tag may be too much for some people to justify. If you have the cash and don’t mind a couple of missing features, we still recommend it.

But let’s be honest: For many people, $2,800 is just too expensive for a laptop that lacks a web cam and an SD card slot. It’s disheartening to see Razer miss these basic features once again on this year’s model. If you want to save money, we suggest getting the 1080p version of the Alienware Area 51m R2 instead. The Dell G5 15 SE is also worth considering if you’re looking for an AMD Ryzen-powered gaming machine at a lower price point.

Drawbacks of Razer Blade Pro 17 Gaming Laptop 2020

Let’s talk about the drawbacks of the Blade Pro 17. After all, nobody’s perfect.

First of all, it’s loud. Whenever it has to work even slightly harder than usual, the fans kick on and stay on for a while. The best way to go about this is to use headphones or external speakers whenever possible so that you’re not annoyed by the whirring of fans more often than you might like.

Speaking of price, this laptop is not cheap. It’s probably outside the budget of anyone who doesn’t want to devote their entire paycheck to it—but if you can afford it, why not? You deserve nice things (and top-notch gaming performance). Don’t feel guilty if you buy one; in fact, enjoy it! We think you should treat yourself every once in a while. Besides, your friends will be jealous of how insanely fast your computer is when they come over later and you play some games with them (they’ll probably bring beer though). To lure them into your home with promises of video games and good times will probably require having large TVs and surround sound systems in each room—but then again that’s just another benefit of being rich enough to own a Blade Pro 17! So go ahead and spend that cash without thinking twice about what your mortgage payment was supposed to be used for: don’t have regrets later in life because your computer wasn’t fast enough today!

It takes up a lot of space on your desk, which could be an issue if you have limited room for gadgets at home or work (that’s actually pretty common). There aren’t any SD card slots either so transferring pictures from digital cameras won’t be possible unless they’re already stored somewhere else like an external hard drive or cloud storage service (those are still cool though right?). Furthermore there isn’t any face detection software built into this machine so don’t expect any automatic sign ins based off facial recognition technology—you’ll instead need to enter.

  • CPU (processor): The more powerful the CPU, the faster and more efficient your computer will be. Having a fast processor ensures you will have a smooth gaming experience.
  • RAM (memory): More RAM means you can open more apps at a time. It is important to note that even if a computer has 8GB of RAM, it may be running 32bit Windows 10, meaning it can only use 3GB of RAM.
  • SSD (storage): SSDs are much faster than HDDs but also much smaller in capacity. Since they have no moving parts, they are also more durable and less noisy.
  • GPU (graphics card): A dedicated GPU is crucial for ensuring your gaming experience looks and runs as smooth as possible.
  • Weight: Lighter laptops are easier to carry with you on the go, but weigh higher for better performance, since battery life is related to weight in most cases. Laptops intended for gaming often compromise on battery life in order to get better performance from other parts of the system like CPU and graphics card.
  • Battery life: How long can you expect your laptop’s battery to last? Battery life varies greatly based on usage scenario and hardware configuration—the average user can expect anywhere from 2 hours up to 6 hours between charges depending on what they’re doing with their laptop!

9th Generation Intel Core i7-9750H Processor @ 2.60GHz(6 Cores, 12M Cache, up to 4.50 GHz)

The Intel Core i7-9750H is a high-end processor for laptops with six cores based on the Coffee Lake architecture (2019 Refresh, CFL-HR). The 9th generation of Intel’s Core processors is labeled as “Coffee Lake Refresh”. They are still built on the 14nm production process and only work with the newer 300-series chipset motherboards.

Compared to its direct predecessor, the Core i7-8750H (Coffee Lake, CFL), the 9750H offers a 100 MHz higher clock speed in Turbo Boost mode with 12 instead of 6 cores. Additionally, it features HyperThreading and thus 12 threads as well as an improved memory controller that supports DDR4-2666 RAM (instead of DDR4-2400).

As a result, the performance should be up to 20 percent better compared to similarly clocked Coffee Lake processors (up to 4.5 GHz) while being more energy efficient due to optimised microarchitecture and manufacturing process.

Per-Key RGB gaming keyboard by SteelSeries with silver lining print

This is a full-size keyboard with a dedicated numpad. The keys are decently sized and well spaced, and the WASD letters have been highlighted for gaming. The keys feel good to type on, so even if you’re looking for a laptop that can handle both work and play, you shouldn’t be disappointed. It’s also responsive enough for gaming, so your last second dodges will register correctly – unless the server lags out or something else goes wrong in the game itself.

The keyboard also comes with per-key RGB backlighting behind every key. Unlike some other laptops where the backlight shines through unevenly at best or doesn’t show up at all at worst (I’m looking at you ASUS ROG Strix Scar III), every single letter on this keyboard lights up just as brightly as its neighbors.

The Acer Nitro 5 is a gaming laptop with an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti graphics card.

  • NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti
  • 8GB RAM
  • 256GB SSD
  • AMD Radeon R7
  • 15.6″ Full HD IPS
  • Backlit keyboard
  • 4.85 lbs.
  • Windows 10 Home

It has a R7 processor and 8GB of RAM.

The Acer Nitro 5 is powered by a quad-core, eight thread AMD Ryzen 7 processor operating at 2.2 GHz, which can be overclocked to 3.1 GHz. The Ryzen 7 isn’t the fastest processor on the market—that would be Intel’s Core i9—but it’s more than enough for gaming. This particular model comes with 8 GB of RAM, which is sufficient for most gaming applications and can be upgraded to 32 GB if desired. It also has 256 GB solid state drive (SSD) storage, which is significantly smaller than what’s included in competitors like the Dell G5 Gaming Laptop or Razer Blade 15 Base Model, so an upgrade may be in order if you’re planning to play graphically intensive games and install large programs like Photoshop.

It has a backlit keyboard, a comfortable-enough keyboard, and good audio output.

  • Backlit keyboard (which is a nice touch for the price)
  • Comfortable enough keyboard
  • Good audio output
  • IPS LCD screen

The battery life is roughly 4-5 hours with heavy use.

Battery Life: As with most gaming laptops, the battery life on the Nitro 5 is not great. That said, it’s still enough to get you through a few hours of light use, like web browsing and online chatting. Since this model has integrated graphics, its battery life is better than many of its competitors. With heavy use though — streaming 4K video from YouTube or Netflix, for example — the battery will likely drain within four or five hours. This isn’t terrible for a laptop in this price bracket but it’s still not great. For comparison, the Lenovo Legion Y520 lasts around 6 hours with heavy use (it also has an integrated graphics card).

The screen is large enough at 15″ with full HD resolution, but IPS LCD would have been better.

The screen is large enough at 15″ with full HD resolution, but IPS LCD would have been better. IPS LCD is a screen technology that offers better viewing angles compared to the LED screen. LED screen may be a bit dimmer than an IPS LCD but in this case it works well since you can adjust the brightness to your liking. It’s not as sharp as most high end laptops and while colors look accurate, they’re not as vibrant. The color gamut is smaller. The TN panel has good viewing angles which ensures that you won’t be seeing any color distortion when you move around or tilt the screen, however it doesn’t come close to the quality of an IPS LCD display. Since gaming and multimedia entertainment are what this laptop was built for, it’s a pity that there isn’t an option for an IPS LCD display on this model as TN panels are inferior in all of those aspects.

IPS LCD panels are ideal for both video and photo editing because they offer better color reproduction over TN panels and thanks to their wide viewing angle design you won’t get any color distortion even when viewed from extreme angles which make them perfect for watching movies with your friends or family members without having to worry about everyone sitting in one particular spot where they’ll have optimal picture quality.

The 256GB SSD is small but can be expanded on the unit.

The Lenovo Y520 comes with a 256GB SSD, which is obviously smaller than the HDD one would find in a $1,000+ laptop. As an SSD, it’s also more expensive and offers superior performance. An SSD reads and writes files faster than the more traditional hard disk drive (HDD), and it’s also less prone to physical damage because there are no moving parts on them. With that said, we would have liked to see at least a 512GB SSD for this type of price tag.

The good news is that you can easily expand the storage space on your own by installing another M2 NVMe solid-state drive in place of the 2.5-inch HDD bay at the bottom of the laptop. A 1TB M2 NVMe SSD would be ideal since you’ll get twice as much space while maintaining similar read/write speeds to what you already have without spending more than $200 – $250 total (a 1TB SATA III 2.5-inch SSHD is only about $55).

This is a decent budget gaming laptop for users who want something portable and powerful for light gaming or video editing.

This is a decent budget gaming laptop for users who want something portable and powerful for light gaming or video editing. The Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti is not the strongest graphics card out there, but it’s capable of running games on medium to high settings with a good framerate. It’s great if you’re into Fortnite or other non-graphics intensive games, but don’t expect to run any of the latest games at maximum settings without some lag. I think this laptop is most ideal for video editors looking for something powerful that’s still portable and affordable.

Pros and Cons of Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop

The Acer Nitro 5 is a gaming laptop with an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, a R7 processor, and 8GB of RAM.

You should consider buying the Acer Nitro 5 if:

  • You want to play games on your laptop in low-to-medium settings
  • You like the design of this laptop (it’s not bad!)
  • You want some nifty features like a backlit keyboard and good audio output

You shouldn’t consider buying the Acer Nitro 5 if:

  • You need to run your games in high or ultra settings

Drawbacks of Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop

The Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop has drawbacks just like any other laptop. Not having an IPS LCD for the display is a drawback because it’s not as good as other types of displays. Also, it only has 4-5 hours of battery life which is pretty low compared to most laptops. Having 256GB SSD is a small amount of storage space.
