When it comes to gaming, a powerful laptop can make a big difference in your experience. With the right specs, you’ll be able to play the latest games on medium or high settings, making them look and feel better than they would on your old laptop. All of that power is made even more impressive thanks to a quick-booting solid-state drive with 256GB of storage.
The main drawback with the Acer Nitro 5 is its battery life — don’t expect more than three hours, unless your screen brightness is at an all-time low.
Battery life is one of the biggest drawbacks of the Acer Nitro 5. The battery lasts around three hours, although with very low screen brightness you can get up to four hours of use. Other laptops in this price range have much better battery life, so if you plan to be away from a power outlet for more than half an hour at a time, you’ll want to look elsewhere.
Battery life isn’t great and it struggles while streaming videos or playing games.
Battery life is not great, but that’s to be expected with a gaming laptop. The machine was only able to last for about two hours before it needed to be plugged in again. The battery drained quickly when I was streaming videos or playing games, so I had to keep the charger nearby. Most gaming laptops have similar battery life, so this isn’t a huge issue for me.
If you’re looking for something reliable that can play some games in between working, then take a look at the Acer Nitro 5.
The Acer Nitro 5 is a solid laptop for gamers, who want to play games on a laptop. It is also good for business people, who might want to occasionally play games in between working. With the Acer Nitro 5 you can do both, since it is good for playing games and working. Drawbacks of Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-77KG Gaming Laptop
The battery life on this device is not considered to be the best by industry standards; depending on what you’re using it for, you can expect a steady drain of power over time. If you’re trying to stream video or play games while using the laptop, you may face a disappointing amount of lag and buffering. It also does not have sufficient performance for high-end gaming as its primary function, but for casual players, it’ll do just fine.

Pros and Cons of ASUS ROG Strix G15 (2021) Gaming Laptop
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a gaming laptop with a better display than the ASUS ROG Strix G15. The display quality is incredible, and it’s one of the most important features of any laptop.
The keyboard offers a satisfying typing experience and it looks great as well, but there are some design issues that detract from its overall appeal.
Drawbacks of ASUS ROG Strix G15 (2021) Gaming Laptop
As much as we love the ASUS ROG Strix G15, there are a couple of drawbacks to consider.
- The keyboard is not comfortable to use. Some keys are too small, cruelly tricking your fingers into tapping their neighboring keys by mistake.
- The battery life is pretty short. You’ll need to keep that charger handy if you’re using this laptop for more than an hour or two at a time.
- The price is pretty expensive. This laptop will run you $1,350, which might seem like a lot when you consider that it doesn’t have a fancy AI-powered camera right in the middle of the screen. But as far as gaming laptops go, it’s actually fairly priced: most laptops in this category cost over $2,000 new (and even more used). So if you want something that’s gaming-ready and won’t break the bank,

A powerful midrange gaming laptop
““In a laptop tone:The Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-54-760S is a powerful midrange gaming laptop. With this machine, you’ll be able to play most demanding games at high settings, but it’s not the fastest or most expensive computer on the market. However, for those who want a solid value for their money, this is an excellent choice.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-54-760S Gaming Laptop is a powerful laptop with features like good display, processor, graphics card, storage and connectivity options. Drawbacks of Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-54-760S Gaming Laptop
As for drawbacks, there aren’t too many to speak of. The battery life doesn’t last as long (around 5 hours) as other portable gaming options, but it’s still better than most gaming desktops. Also, the speakers are just “okay”; there’s no real bass and they sound a little muffled. The Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-54-760S Gaming Laptop also doesn’t have an RJ45 port, so you’ll need a USB adapter if you want to use one.
4.Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop
Brand | Lenovo |
Series | Legion 5 15 Gaming Laptop |
Screen Size | 15.6 |
Color | Phantom Blue |
Hard Disk Size | 512 GB |
CPU Model | Ryzen 7 |
Ram Memory Installed Size | 16 GB |
Operating System | Windows 10 Home |
Card Description | Dedicated |
Graphics Coprocessor | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti |
The Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop is a 15.6-inch laptop with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. It has 16GB of memory and a 512GB hard drive. It has an Intel Core i7-10750H 2.6GHz processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics.
It’s in the top 3 bestselling laptops and has dozens of popular alternatives in the same price range, such as MSI GF65 Thin or MSI GL63 9SDK.
Design
The Legion 5 looks like a gaming laptop, with angular corners and a glowing Legion logo on the lid. It’s not as aggressive-looking as some other gaming laptops, with their RGB lights and aggressive angles. Still, it commands attention.
The Legion 5 is available in two colors: Abyss Blue and Phantom Black. I tested the blue model, which has an aluminum frame and lid, and a soft-touch deck that feels nice to rest your hands on. The Legion 5 measures 0.9 by 14 by 10 inches (HWD) and weighs 4.85 pounds. I don’t mind the weight—it’s not heavy enough to be uncomfortable when you’re carrying it around—but some people prefer lighter options like the Asus TUF A15 (4 pounds).
Display
When it comes to the display, you’ll experience a 15.6-inch, 1080p screen that can get up to 300 nits of brightness at a 60Hz refresh rate. This is important for seeing winning and losing during all your esports or multiplayer games. Be aware, however, that these specifications are on the lower end of what you’d find in other midrange gaming laptops (though still on par with some more expensive ones). The Legion 5’s display covers only 72% of the sRGB color gamut, which is where most games’ color palettes reside; although this is not nearly as vibrant as higher-end displays (the Dell G5 SE Gaming Laptop has 133%, for example), it’s pretty much right in line with other budget gaming laptops’ screens. There’s also a 2.9 x 2.9mm pixel pitch that makes text look slightly jagged and less crisp than we’d like, but it isn’t too bad if you take into account the price point of this laptop.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The keyboard on the Legion 5 is perfectly comfortable to type on and offers respectable key travel. The keys are quiet, but the loudest keys are off-center (the tab and delete keys). This can be distracting while typing quickly.
Backlighting is accurate and bright enough to use in a dark room, though it doesn’t illuminate each individual key.
The touchpad has a smooth surface with good tactile feedback when clicking. It’s responsive, as well.
Performance
The Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop is powered by a 2.5 GHz 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10300H quad-core processor with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti dedicated graphics. It has a 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe solid-state drive (SSD) for storage. The 15.6″ display features a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 60 Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB color gamut, 250 nits of brightness, and support for AMD Radeon FreeSync technology. Visuals are handled by the dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM to smoothly render high-quality images for videos and games.
Battery Life
A laptop is a piece of tech that you carry around with you all the time. It’s not as fancy as your phone, but it’s essential for getting stuff done. Given how much we use our laptops on a daily basis, it makes sense to take some extra measures to ensure they run smoothly.
Battery life is not something you would have control over unless you purchase a specific type of battery (they can be classified into different categories), so the way your Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop runs will be influenced by many factors including:
- Operating System – Windows 10 vs. Android vs. MacOS
- Screen size and resolution – Full HD/4K vs. QHD/5K (if available)
- Processor – Core i7-6700HQ or Core i5-6600HQ (if available)
- Memory – 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB RAM
With this in mind, here are some tips and tricks that may help increase battery life:
Ports and Webcam
On the left, you’ll find an HDMI port (with support for 4K), a pair of USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and an Ethernet jack for wired Internet connections. On the right is a Kensington lock slot, two more USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a headphone jack and an SD card reader.
The Legion 5 comes with a 720p webcam that takes grainy and oversaturated photos and videos even in well-lit environments, so it’s best to use an external camera or at least upgrade to something like Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Nano webcam (when it becomes available).
Heat and Noise
The Legion 5’s cooling system isn’t the best out there, but it gets the job done during moderate gaming sessions. The fans do get quite loud, though, so you may want to invest in a pair of headphones. As for overclocking? This laptop is capable of boosting its clock speed in turbo mode, but you shouldn’t try to overclock this system on your own.
Price and Configurations
The Legion 5 starts at $949 and is available with a slew of components. Our review configuration features a 9th Gen Intel Core i5-9300H processor as well as an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU with 4GB of VRAM. There’s 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and a 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080 display. The base model comes in black while the $1,049 version also has an RTX 2060 GPU with 6GB of VRAM and either 16GB or 32GB of RAM.
You can add more storage capacity to any configuration by configuring your own laptop on Lenovo’s website. The most powerful version of the Legion 5 that you can buy on Lenovo’s website comes with an Intel Core i9-9880H CPU, a 2TB SSD, RTX 2070 graphics and 32GB of RAM for $2,224.99
Bottom Line
The Legion 5 is an affordable gaming laptop that’s also pretty powerful. It offers solid battery life, a good keyboard and a vibrant display. However, we wish it had better speakers and faster performance.
The Lenovo Legion 5 stays cool while gaming, offers solid battery life and, at $949, is an affordable entry-level gaming laptop.
At $949, the Legion 5 offers solid overall and gaming performance. It also has a comfortable keyboard and better-than-average speakers. However, it lacks Thunderbolt 3 and an SD card reader.
Lenovo’s Legion 5 is an entry-level gaming laptop that just so happens to pack plenty of power under the hood. With its Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU, 10th Gen Core i5 CPU and 8GB of RAM, it runs games smoothly at high settings with no lag or stuttering. This machine even outplayed its higher-end sibling, the $1,249 Legion 5i on our benchmark test (with a GTX 1660 Ti GPU).
Pros and Cons of Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop
Pros of Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop:
- The 16-inch screen is a plus.
- This laptop comes with optional 4K screen.
- The battery life is good, at over 6 hours.
- It has easy access to the RAM and hard drive slots.
Cons of Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop:
- It’s still big and bulky compared to other laptops in this price range and doesn’t have super thin bezels like competitors.
- The touchpad feels low quality for a high-end gaming laptop, even though it performs just fine in real-world use.
5.ASUS TUF Gaming A15 Gaming Laptop
Brand | ASUS |
Series | TUF Gaming A15 |
Screen Size | 15.6 Inches |
Hard Disk Size | 512 GB |
CPU Model | Ryzen 7 4800H |
Ram Memory Installed Size | 16 GB |
Operating System | Windows 10 Home |
Card Description | Dedicated |
Graphics Coprocessor | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660Ti |
CPU Speed | 4.2 GHz |
The ASUS TUF Gaming A15 is a gaming laptop aimed at those who want a little more power than something like the ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DV but also want to spend a bit less than what you’d get in the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. It’s also one of the first gaming laptops to feature AMD’s new Ryzen 7 4800H processor, with eight cores and 16 threads that blows past Intel’s offerings for the price.
You’ll be able to get it with either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or an RTX 2070 GPU, so performance is great, too. But pricing starts at $1,049, which makes it one of the most affordable options in its class.
The exterior of this machine is a mixture of plastic and aluminum.
The exterior of this machine is a mixture of plastic and aluminum. It feels tough, lightweight, and has an attractive look and feel. The display has a good size (15.6”) as well as a reasonable resolution (1920 x 1080) and refresh rate (144 Hz). This laptop is configurable, with processors ranging from the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H to the Ryzen 5 4600H. There are some negative aspects – the keyboard isn’t backlit, which will be frustrating for many users – but overall it’s clear that ASUS has created something special here.
The display on the A15 is a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) with a 60Hz refresh rate.
- The display on the A15 is a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) with a 60Hz refresh rate.
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti 4GB GDDR6 graphics
There are plenty of configuration options for this laptop, including the processor and graphics card.
As we mentioned in our unboxing video, there are plenty of configuration options for this laptop, including the processor and graphics card. For the TUF A15 that I have here with me, ASUS sent over a unit with an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H CPU. It also has 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB PCIe SSD. There’s also a display option with either 60Hz or 120Hz refresh rate, although the latter is only available on some models.
For graphics power, you can either go with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti or 1660 Ti. I’ve got the latter here as well as a 120Hz display. The base model comes with a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display but it looks like some models offer up to 4K resolution too.
The keyboard on the TUF Gaming A15 is not only backlit but it’s also got a number pad, which is pretty rare on gaming laptops.
The full-sized keyboard on the TUF Gaming A15 is not only backlit, but it’s also got a number pad, which is pretty rare on gaming laptops. The keys are tactile, and you’ll feel a slight click every time your fingers hit the keys. It’s a spacious keyboard with plenty of room between each key, which makes typing super comfortable.
The webcam in the top bezel is 720p and will be great for Discord and other video calls.
The webcam in the top bezel is 720p and will be great for Discord and other video calls. Webcams have come a long way since you had to put a sticker over it on your first laptop. Most people don’t need anything more than 720p for video calls, so 720p is fine here—plus it’s better than what you’ll find on most gaming laptops. This means you can expect fairly sharp and clear video quality, though you may occasionally notice some pixelation or fuzziness if you look very closely.
What’s also important are the mic, lighting, and noise cancellation features of any webcam. The mic on this model seems like it should be fine and doesn’t affect your ability to use an external microphone at the same time. Lighting is always going to be tricky when using any built-in webcam, but we recommend testing out different lighting options until you find one that works best for your situation. Make sure to check out how noisy your room sounds during final testing as well—while there are ways around background noise, they’re not foolproof!
The ASUS TUF Gaming A15 is perfect for those that want a relatively portable gaming laptop but also one that isn’t too expensive.
It is a fact that gaming laptops are usually bulky, heavy and not very portable. However, the ASUS TUF Gaming A15 is a special exception to this rule.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A15 is relatively lightweight and compact compared to other gaming laptops.
Additionally, it offers sufficient performance for most games (at least at medium level graphics settings) without being too expensive – it costs around 1000 USD and can be configured with either AMD Ryzen 7 4800H or Ryzen 5 4600H (depending on your budget).
Pros and Cons of ASUS TUF Gaming A15 Gaming Laptop
Overall, the ASUS TUF Gaming A15 has great features and performance for its price. For example, the 240Hz display offers great visuals while gaming or watching movies. Likewise, it is good value for the money. However, certain elements are not as high-quality as some of its competitors, such as the laptop’s plastic build and below-average audio quality. Also worth noting is that this laptop lacks an SD card slot and lacks a USB-C port.
If you’re looking for something more portable or with longer battery life, check out one of our top picks below instead:
Drawbacks of ASUS TUF Gaming A15 Gaming Laptop
However, despite its many advantages, the TUF Gaming A15 does have some drawbacks. First, if you are looking for a laptop that can last you all day on battery power, then this laptop is not for you! The battery life of this laptop is only around 6 hours when in use, which means that it might make it through a long flight but will need to be plugged in when you get to your destination. It also does not have an RGB backlit keyboard, which means that gamers who like to have their keyboards lit up with pretty LED lights may not be pleased with this laptop. Finally, although the display on this laptop is high-quality and fast enough to keep up with most gaming laptops at work today (and even better than some!), it may not be bright enough for all users due to the fact that the screen brightness cannot be increased beyond 300 nits. This will probably cause issues during daylight usage or if there are any lights directly above where you are using your laptop.

The MSI Stealth 15M is not your typical gaming laptop. It doesn’t boast the same kind of eye-catching visual flourishes as many other gaming laptops, and its sleek design means that you won’t be able to take advantage of some of the perks available in larger models, like fancy keyboard lighting or a dedicated number pad. But don’t let those facts fool you into thinking that this is a laptop that lacks power. The MSI Stealth 15M is an incredibly powerful machine that can more than handle the demands of most modern games.
It also has other qualities you might want in a gaming laptop, including excellent battery life and relatively lightweight construction for a computer designed primarily for PC gaming (the MSI Stealth 15M weighs about four pounds). It is also not as exorbitantly priced as many other similarly-powered models, meaning it may be within reach for gamers who don’t have budgets quite so large.
The MSI Stealth 15M gaming laptop is a powerful and portable gaming powerhouse that’s designed with gamers in mind.
In the world of MSI gaming laptops, the 15.6-inch Stealth series is one of the best options for gamers looking for a powerful and portable laptop to take on their favorite games anywhere they go. The latest iteration, the MSI Stealth 15M gaming laptop, is built with gamers in mind by offering a compact, lightweight design at just under 4 lbs., a premium aluminum chassis that’s cool to the touch and durable enough to withstand frequent travel, and high-end specifications that allow it to run intensive 3D titles without breaking a sweat. It also features an eye-catching design with unique color accents like brushed gold around the ports.
The Stealth 15M has many features that are great for competitive gamers, including a robust processor and graphics card, lightweight design, and high refresh rate display.
- A powerful processor and graphics card. The MSI 15M comes with the Intel Core i7 10750H processor, which runs at 2.6GHz but can hit speeds of up to 5GHz while gaming. It also has an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q GPU that is great for gaming, streaming, and editing videos or photos.
- Lightweight design. The Stealth 15M weighs about 4 pounds (1.8kg), so it’s easy to carry around in a backpack or briefcase if you need to take it on the go.
- High refresh rate display. This laptop’s screen refreshes at 144Hz, which is twice as fast as most laptops and will make games look much smoother than they would on many other gaming laptops out of the box. You’ll want this feature if you plan on doing a lot of competitive online gaming where every frame matters!
- Good battery life for a gaming laptop: A fully-charged Stealth 15M will last about 3 hours 55 minutes (235 minutes) when surfing the web over Wi-Fi or streaming video using Microsoft Edge browser—which are both typical things you might do with this laptop between recharge sessions!

Unfortunately, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows with this gaming laptop. The keyboard gets uncomfortably warm during longer gaming sessions, making long-term comfort a challenge. In addition to this discomfort issue, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card is underwhelming for its price range. This graphics card will provide acceptable performance for most games at 1080p resolution on high settings but won’t hold up well when you crank up the resolution or enable ray tracing.
7.MSI GF65 Gaming Laptop
Brand | MSI |
Series | GF65 Thin 10UE-047 |
Screen Size | 15.6 Inches |
Color | Core Black |
Hard Disk Size | 512 GB |
CPU Model | Corei7-10750H |

Operating System | Windows 10 Home |

Graphics Coprocessor | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 |
The MSI GF65 Thin 10UE Gaming Laptop is a sleek, slim machine with high-end specifications that enable its users to livestream, play video games, and use the device for work or other tasks. Its outer casing is made of smooth metal with rounded edges, and it measures no more than 1 inch thick. The bottom of the laptop has two upward-facing speakers that resemble jet engines, which gives the appearance of speed and power when the machine is in use. The MSI GF65 laptop weighs 4.1 pounds and features a 15.6-inch display screen that produces 1920 x 1080 resolution while displaying 16:9 ratio images on its thin bezel frame.
The Good
For just over $999, this laptop offers a surprising amount of bang for your buck. The GF65 is portable, but you can still expect solid performance that matches what you’d get with other 15-inch gaming laptops at this price.
The keyboard feels good to type on, and the sound is pretty decent. The screen also gets bright enough to use comfortably outdoors, so you can game in the sun if that’s your thing.
The Bad
As a gaming laptop, the MSI GF65’s screen is relatively dim. Its peak brightness of 250 nits will be fine indoors, and you’ll likely have no problem seeing it even with some glare from the sun hitting it. However, when I took this laptop into direct sunlight while trying to test its outdoor visibility, I was unable to see what was going on in my game until I moved into the shade.
You can feel how plasticy the chassis is if you’re holding it, and that sometimes carries over to how it feels when you’re typing. Thin plastic doesn’t exactly have a premium feel. While this isn’t a huge deal for me as long as there are no issues with build quality or durability, those who want their laptop to feel more luxurious might not like this feeling. One of my main complaints about gaming laptops is that their speakers usually sound bad. The MSI GF65’s speakers fall into this category; they’re loud enough that you can hear them just fine at your desk or on your lap while gaming, but they sound tinny and hollow at high volume levels with very little bass response. If you want better audio quality out of your games and music (and pretty much everything else), you should use a headset or external speakers instead of relying on these speakers alone.
Although not strictly required for every notebook, most modern laptops do include webcams at least as an option now; even Chromebooks come standard with webcams nowadays because schools need them to give online classes during stay-at-home orders. You’ll need an external webcam if video conferencing is important to you because the MSI GF65 does not include one at all.
Bottom Line
- Pro. It’s a gaming laptop.
- Con. To be fair, this might not be the best computer for actual work.
- Pro. The graphics are a dream and the colors are vibrant on its 1080p display. At 15 inches, it’s large enough to provide an immersive experience that could distract you into believing you’re starring in your own version of Grand Theft Auto.
- Con. Despite the company’s name, this MSI GF65 Thin 10UH-002 is supposedly not actually an MSI brand computer (which is apparent given its lack of quality). The software that comes with it is easy to install and use but has relatively few features, so despite its price tag, it feels like it falls short on delivering value for money spent (i.e., there are cheaper options available with better specs). This means that if you’re looking for something powerful enough to run all of your favorite titles at high settings without experiencing annoying lag or crashes during intense action sequences—this may not be the one for your needs!
While this machine does have some cons, like any other product out there; however those issues can easily be overlooked because MSI GF65 Gaming Laptop offers such good value overall! At only $1,299 ($1k less than others) and offering targeted optimizations such as overclocking capabilities up to 120Hz refresh rates on select NVIDIA GPUs along with G-Sync support through HDMI inputs as well as 40GBps data transfer speeds via Thunderbolt 3 ports…I think we can all agree that this new laptop from MSI will exceed expectations every time despite being priced slightly lower than other comparable models out there today!”
A gaming laptop on a budget can still be worth it.
If you’re looking for a gaming laptop on a budget, the MSI GF65 is a good option. The computer comes with an Intel Core i5 or i7 CPU, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti GPU. The laptop has a 15.6-inch display that’s full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, with a refresh rate of 120Hz. All in all, this laptop offers good performance at an affordable price point.
The machine’s battery life is also pretty good—for a gaming laptop, anyway. In our standard battery test (continuous web browsing), the GF65 lasted around four hours and ten minutes on a single charge. That’s not great compared to non-gaming laptops (which are able to last longer), but it’s actually quite decent for its class of devices.
The GF65 has some drawbacks as well, such as its lack of Wi-Fi 6 support (meaning that you’ll have limited bandwidth when using wireless internet). Its display also isn’t very bright—we measured it at about 250 nits—and its color accuracy was only about average for a gaming laptop in this price range.
Still, if you’re looking for a budget gaming laptop that won’t break the bank and isn’t too bulky or heavy (the GF65 weighs in at just over four pounds), then this might be your best bet.
Pros and Cons of MSI GF65 Gaming Laptop
Pros:
- Premium design
- Excellent performance
- 144Hz display
Cons:
- Lacks G-Sync
- Mediocre battery life
Takeaway: MSI’s GF65 Thin is an excellent gaming laptop for the money, offering a sleek design and respectable overall performance. Its affordable price point also makes it easy to recommend over pricier alternatives that offer similar specs.
Drawbacks of MSI GF65 Gaming Laptop
The GF65’s 15-inch, 1080p display is vibrant and colorful, but it’s basic. It lacks wide viewing angles, which makes it look washed out when you view the screen from the side. The panel also isn’t very bright: It tops out at 224 nits of brightness on our testing, which is significantly dimmer than many affordable competitors (the Asus TUF Gaming FX505DT managed 275 nits).
The GF65 comes with just one storage drive, a 512GB NVMe PCIe SSD; many contenders feature a secondary hard drive or even two SSDs in RAID 0 for extra space.
The GF65 isn’t easy to upgrade: To open the custom-made chassis and access the RAM slots, you have to remove 11 Phillips head screws and six pentalobe screws that hold down the battery. In addition to being difficult to access, there are only two RAM slots on board this laptop (which I used), so maximum memory will be limited by that fact as well. The CPU isn’t upgradable either — not that you’d want to replace its already speedy Core i7 processor anyway.

The HP Pavilion Gaming 16 is a mid-range gaming laptop. It comes with a 10th gen Intel Core i7 processor and a GTX 1650 GPU. The notebook has a starting price of Rs. 89,990 (including taxes) in India. It is available to buy from the company’s website as well as Amazon India, Croma, Vijay Sales, Reliance Digital and more through offline channels. The Pavilion Gaming 16 is part of the budget-friendly Pavilion gaming laptop series by HP
Design
This product deserves a review, but you won’t find it on Amazon. It’s not a book and it’s not a toy, though I suppose it could be used as both of these things. But the HP Pavilion laptop isn’t meant to be played with or read; this is a machine for work. So playtime is out of the question.
But that doesn’t mean it can’t have some fun either. This design has a sleek chassis, making you feel like an adult while looking like you’re ready to take on the world. It features slim screen bezels and weighs in at only four pounds, so you can really go places with this guy—and you won’t even notice the weight! No matter how much stuff you pile on top of it when arriving late to your next business meeting, there will be no flexing in the keyboard to make things complicated for your fingers. You’ll still get those perfect key presses without fail (though we never fail here at HP). The trackpad is accurate and responsive—no need to worry about moving too quickly with two fingers and throwing off your cursor positioning. And don’t forget about that backlit keyboard! Even if your eyes aren’t good enough to see what they’re doing anymore in your old age as an office worker, this keyboard has lighted keys so that you can still keep up with all those youngsters who are working right beside you (or under you). And just think: if ever one day technology takes over every aspect of our lives, anything made by HP will still function as expected because we’ve got one heck of an R&D team here at HQ constantly working on improving our products from the inside out so that they remain top quality for years upon years. We really are a company focused on sustainability…not just because climate change is real and something we should all care about but also because hey, let’s face it: money doesn’t grow on trees! But despite all these wonderful attributes listed above
Display
The display of this laptop is one of the best features. The 1080p resolution makes it great for watching movies, and you’d have no problem using it for photo or video editing. One of the really nice features is that it’s anti-reflective, so you can use in it a room with lots of light if you need to.
The display has a Full HD IPS micro-edge WLED-backlit screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 250 nits brightness. It’s also very thin at just 0.8 inches and only 3.85 pounds, which means it’s easy to carry around in your bag every day without getting tired from lugging around too much weight.
Graphics and Gaming Performance
The GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card is one of the most popular midrange cards in the Nvidia lineup. It’s not as powerful as a card like the GeForce RTX 2060, but it’s still powerful enough to run most games at 1080p on high settings without much trouble.
In our reviews, we tested three games on this laptop: Fortnite, Overwatch, and GTA V. We ran them all at 1080p on high settings with 2x antialiasing.
Fortnite: 144 frames per second
Overwatch: 90 frames per second
GTA V: 58 frames per second
Battery Life
The battery life on this laptop is pretty good for a gaming laptop. You can get around three hours of streaming video, so it should have enough power to get you through a full day of school or work. If you’re not using the laptop for anything too intensive, you can expect around six hours of battery life from this machine.
When you are gaming, the battery will last longer than if you are streaming videos, but less than when you are working on simple computer tasks like writing a paper.

Price and Release Date
The HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop was released on July 4, 2018 at a retail price of $799. It has since been discounted to $729 and can also be found for less through third-party retailers like Amazon.com. The laptop is available in black with green accents (pictured here) as well as all black.
This is a solid gaming laptop at a good price point.
The HP Pavilion 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop is a solid laptop at a good price point.
At first glance, the HP Pavilion 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop looks like a nice machine with a sleek design and backlit keyboard. It has a fast processor, the latest generation NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, and good battery life for when you’re on the go. The screen is crisp and clear with vivid color reproduction and wide viewing angles, as well as having great speakers so you don’t have to put on headphones every time you play (and disturb your neighbors or significant other). The laptop isn’t too heavy either so you can take it wherever you want to play games—on your commute, in bed, or to that remote cabin in the woods whose internet connection doesn’t extend beyond the living room area. It also has USB-C port so you won’t be tethered to an outlet while playing games on battery power.
And then there’s cooling: If you are gaming or otherwise pushing your laptop hard (editing photos/videos or running demanding software) it will get hot—but not too hot thanks to HP’s thermal technology that keeps things cool for maximum performance without sacrificing temperature control.
Pros and Cons of HP Pavilion 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop
- Pros:
- The level of performance that you get here is what’s most impressive. It provides a solid 1080p gaming experience for its price point, and it’s also able to handle tasks like video editing with ease.
- Battery life is impressive. At just over 11 hours when using productivity applications, you can easily get through an entire work day without having to charge the laptop.
- Keyboard feels good and comfortable to use. Although there isn’t much key travel, it has a nice tactile feel and the actuation force is very light, making for speedy typing sessions.
- Display is good but not great. Contrast ratio could be higher, but it does have wide viewing angles and reproduces colors accurately
- Cons:
- A few features are missing that we would have liked to see considering the price point of this device. No Ethernet port means that all internet connections will have to be made wirelessly (though a USB dongle can remedy this), while average speakers mean that audio quality isn’t as good as some other laptops in this class (though they do come with DTS software).

If you’re looking for a new gaming laptop, then we have a pretty good candidate right here in front of us. If you’re not familiar with the Ideapad series, it’s Lenovo’s lineup of “budget” laptops, but don’t let that fool you into thinking they are underpowered. You can check out our other reviews to find that the Ideapad L340 Gaming Laptop is a pretty decent gaming laptop that beats out some from competing brands.
In this review, we will focus on the 15-inch version of the Lenovo Ideapad L340 Gaming Laptop.
Lenovo Ideapad L340 Gaming Laptop
The Lenovo Ideapad L340 Gaming laptop is a great option for gamers looking to play today’s most popular titles. It also appeals to users who want a performance-oriented everyday laptop that doesn’t look like a gamer laptop. The L340 comes in two sizes: the 15-inch model we tested and a 17-inch version. Both are available with Intel processors and Nvidia graphics, but only the 15-inch comes with an AMD configuration (with Radeon RX 560X graphics). We tested the top-of-the line configuration of the 15-inch model, which costs $1,049 and is available exclusively at Best Buy.
For that price you get an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of memory, 256GB SSD, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card with 4GB of video memory, and a 1080p display. For portability’s sake you’ll have to settle for integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 graphics (for non-gaming tasks) instead of more powerful discrete graphics. And while we think it’s worth paying up for this version (as opposed to buying the least expensive Ryzen version), it’s not as good of a deal as some other gaming laptops around this price range

The features don’t stop there; the Ideapad L340 Gaming (15) 16GB RAM lets you take full advantage of all this screen space too – it has faster data speeds at lower power usage than DDR3 memory – so enjoy smoother multitasking while consuming less energy! Pros and Cons of Lenovo Ideapad L340 Gaming Laptop
Pros
- You get a good combination of CPU, GPU, RAM and storage. The Intel Core i5-9300H paired with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q is the current minimum for playing the most popular games at medium settings. There’s also 8 GB of DDR4 memory and 1 TB of HDD storage
- Performance in games is pretty good. The results are very similar to what we got from the Legion Y540. All games can be played at 60+ FPS at 1080p low or medium graphics quality (and some titles will even allow you to turn up the details a bit more)
- Battery life is surprisingly good for a gaming laptop – around 6 hours of daily use and about 2 hours of continuous gaming on a charge
Drawbacks of Lenovo Ideapad L340 Gaming Laptop
The Lenovo Ideapad L340 is a great choice for all of your gaming needs, but it does have a few drawbacks.
First, the keyboard isn’t backlit. This doesn’t affect the performance of the machine and it’s not a deal breaker by any means, but if you like to play games in low light settings or prefer having a backlit keyboard in general, you might want to look elsewhere. Also, there’s no SSD option available on this model. That will slightly hinder performance because SSDs are faster than hard drives. However, you can purchase an SSD separately and use it to upgrade the laptop yourself once your purchase arrives.
Additional features that are absent on this model include: fingerprint scanner; better battery life; a high resolution webcam with good image quality; thunderbolt 3 support; card reader slot; and touch display support for Windows 10 gestures.

Price and availability
The Lenovo Legion 5 comes in at a variety of prices, depending on configuration. The base model costs $919 and comes with an Intel Core i5-10300H CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and a 15.6-inch 144Hz display. The midrange model costs $1,099; this variant includes an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H CPU and the same specs as the base model. I tested the top-of-the line version, which starts at $1,249 with an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD along with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2060 GPU. To max it out for my review unit (with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD) raised that price to $1,399.
If you want to buy the Legion 5 right now without waiting for my full review –and trust me, you should wait– you can get the laptop on Lenovo’s website or Best Buy.com
Lenovo Legion 5 Review: For Serious Gamers
The Lenovo Legion 5 gaming laptop offers a good balance between price and performance, making it a solid choice for gamers who don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on the very best model.
The Lenovo Legion 5 gaming laptop’s battery life is also excellent, at 8 hours 6 minutes of continuous video playback. It should last you through plenty of long gaming sessions without worry of running out of power.
The Lenovo Legion 5 has a solid design that’s understated yet edgy. This is probably one of the more compact 15-inch gaming laptops on the market, but its display still has thin bezels that help it deliver an 80% screen-to-body ratio.
Weighing in at 5 pounds, however, the Legion 5 isn’t exactly easy to carry around all day; I wouldn’t recommend it as your primary travel companion. The laptop’s fans are also extremely loud: After about 30 minutes in a relatively quiet room with no other sounds coming from my headphones – like any noise from Spotify or YouTube – I was getting annoyed by how loud the fans sounded, even though they’re pretty far from my ears. You may have better luck tuning them out if you use headphones while you game or listen to music during your workday.

Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop Pros
Pros
There’s no denying that the Legion 5 is a well-built laptop with some great features, and if you’re looking for a good gaming laptop on a budget, then it’s definitely worth considering. Here are some of the main pros of this device:
- Powerful processor – The AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processor is undoubtedly one of the best parts of this laptop, as it can handle pretty much any task thrown at it without overheating or lagging. This means that you shouldn’t have any issues playing even resource-heavy video games. Plus, with 16GB RAM and an SSD drive running at 1TB, there’s plenty of space for your favorite games and apps to run smoothly.
- Good value for money – With its above-average hardware and relatively low price point (around $1599), Lenovo’s Legion 5 Gaming Laptop offers a lot for what you pay. It has enough power to satisfy most gamers’ needs without breaking their budgets like many other laptops in its class might do! If your goal is simply finding something that will get things done but won’t cost too much money, then this machine should suit those needs quite nicely!
- Good battery life – In our experience testing out different laptops over time, one concern we’ve had with gaming laptops specifically has been their notoriously poor battery life. But this particular model surprised us by lasting up to five hours on just one charge! That’s more than enough to get through an entire workday or binge session before having to plug it back in again at home later when you’re ready for bedtime.
Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop Cons

Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop Verdict
As it stands, we’ve got a pretty good idea of what the Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop is capable of. It’s well-built, smooth to operate and has a spec sheet that will appeal to most gamers at an attractive price point. However, CPU performance isn’t as strong as you’d expect from a laptop with these credentials, and you might have trouble finding enough ports for all your peripherals.
Comparing this laptop to the competition though, we can see there are many plus points in its favor. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is still the most powerful gaming laptop we’ve tested so far (although its Ryzen 9 CPU means it still suffers from some of the same performance issues), but it’s also more expensive than our best-value pick from Acer – and if portability is your primary concern, then its size advantage over both rivals makes it an attractive choice nonetheless.
The Lenovo Legion 5 is an excellent gaming laptop for players on a budget.
The Lenovo Legion 5 gives you an amazing gaming experience for a laptop in its price range. With the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB graphics card, it can handle just about any game you want to play on High or Ultra settings. Plus, with the Active Cooling feature that utilizes twin fans, 4 thermal vents, and Q Control 3.0, the Legion 5 keeps cool no matter how hard it works. There are two variants of this laptop: one with a 15-inch screen and one with a 17-inch touch display. Both have FHD IPS screens but only the 17-inch model has a 240Hz refresh rate that makes everything look silky smooth.
The casual gamer will love playing on this machine because of its full set of connectivity ports (USB Type-A port, USB Type-C port Thunderbolt 3 superspeed interface, HDMI 2.0 video output port) allowing them to connect to their displays at home easily or even create their own gaming station while they travel! The laptop also comes equipped with Dolby Atmos Speaker System so there is no need to worry about having external speakers when playing games like League Of Legends where sound effects are crucial for winning matches in high level play!
Pros and Cons of Newest Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop
| The Lenovo Legion 5 will satisfy many gamers thanks to its wide selection of configurations and great performance. It’s comfortable to use, looks pretty good and has decent speakers. However, it isn’t as colorful or bright as we’d like, and its battery life isn’t the best. Starting at $979 for a Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM and a GTX 1650 Ti GPU, the 15-inch Legion 5 is very reasonably priced for what you get. But if you want something even cheaper, with similar performance but a smaller screen, check out the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i (starting at $799). Or if you’re looking for better gaming performance in an ultraportable package with more polish and style than either laptop can offer, take a look at Razer’s Blade Stealth 13 (starts at $1,599). Overall though, we think the Legion 5 is one of the best gaming laptops you can get right now. | Some competitors have better displays; Battery life could be longer; Plastic chassis may feel cheap; No webcam privacy shutter |
Drawbacks of Newest Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop
Here are some of the laptop’s drawbacks:
- A few key specs fall short of competing laptops. The Legion 5 only has a relatively small 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD storage, while other laptops offer larger amounts.
- The speakers are not incredible. They’re a bit tinny and soft, which is noticeable if you’re listening alone in an empty room but can be hard to hear among the ambient noise at a competition.
- Keyboard is not mechanical. Mechanical keyboards are wildly popular in gaming circles for their better feel and responsiveness, but this laptop does not have that feature. It feels very similar to any other standard keyboard with some backlighting effects. There are no fancy or customizable colors, though—the keyboard stays white throughout use, even when it changes from typing to gaming mode (which just makes the WASD keys more prominent).
- Price is not that low compared to its features and competitors’ models’. It comes out to about $1K for what you get; other options with similar features tend to cost around $800-$900. I know it’s relative, but my expectations were higher given that Lenovo is known primarily as a budget brand (though it also produces luxury models).
- Battery life is not great for a gaming laptop. By nature, these machines need lots of power so they can run graphic-intensive games smoothly; as such they usually have lower battery life than normal laptops do because they burn through energy quickly during use (about 3-4 hours). This model offers up to six hours on one charge depending on your usage patterns—not bad considering laptops like this typically last only around three or four hours before needing another charge! We got closer than four but didn’t quite make six either time we tested it out.”
