You need to weigh the pros and cons of each model and make sure you’re getting what you want: a powerful gaming laptop that can handle games as well as basic web browsing, music streaming or video conferencing.

Gaming laptops are great for productivity tasks such as web browsing, music production and video editing, but they tend to have weaker processors than standard laptops. That means they can’t play games as well as standard laptops or hybrids with discrete graphics cards.

The best gaming laptops have high performance CPUs (over 3GHz) and graphics cards with at least 2GB of dedicated VRAM to play games. That’s enough power to run even demanding titles at medium-to-high settings on a 1080p display.

The Acer Nitro 5 is a budget gaming laptop with solid performance and a great keyboard, but its fans get distractingly loud when gaming, and the display could be better for the money.

What we like about the Acer Nitro 5 is that it offers great value for the money.

We like that the Acer Nitro 5 offers great value for the money. It’s a budget-friendly option designed for casual gamers who want to keep up with the latest games, but don’t want to pay a premium price. The Acer Nitro 5 is a good choice if you’re looking for a laptop that can handle modern AAA titles while still having enough juice to run productivity tasks such as photo and video editing. If you’re looking for something that can play demanding PC games at high settings then consider spending more on laptops such as the Razer Blade 15 or Asus ROG Zephyrus G14.

While there are better laptops out there, these will set you back over $1500, which is unrealistic for most people. For us, this was one of the best gaming laptops under $1000 we’ve tested so far and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable gaming laptop.

The graphics on this laptop are good enough to play new releases at medium settings and older games at higher settings.

The Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45-R92M Gaming Laptop might not be the most powerful gaming laptop, but it’s a good pick if you want to play new releases at medium settings and older games at higher settings. It has an Intel Core i5-10300H processor, 8GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU.

It also has a 15.6-inch FHD display with slim bezels that drew us in during testing—it’s nice and bright for when you’re playing your favorite video games! And, though this laptop is nearly 5 pounds, it has a battery life of 5 hours.

It’s not a particularly powerful system, but it gets the job done for a lot of people.

Have no fear, this laptop isn’t the most powerful on the market, but it is enough to get you through some games that are not too graphics-intensive. It features a basic processor with four cores and eight threads. This will allow you to do multiple things at once without experiencing much slowdown. However, the processor is not going to be able to handle many intensive processes or applications very well. You won’t enjoy streaming your gameplay or using it for live video editing with this system.

If you’re looking for a little more power when it comes to video processing, this computer will feature a dedicated graphics card with 2GB of RAM from NVIDIA. The GeForce MX350 chip is capable of powering through a lot of games and media programs like Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Final Cut Pro X, but don’t expect perfect frame rates in resource-heavy games like Overwatch or Fortnite Battle Royale (if you want those games playable at all).

The included 8GB of DDR4 RAM also offers just enough memory for multitasking without being overkill like that time I had 12 slices of pizza because my mom told me we didn’t have any leftovers in the fridge (spoiler alert: she did). You could add more RAM if you wanted, but again: remember that this system isn’t built for intensive processes like photo editing or livestreaming.

The Acer Nitro 5 is well-suited for casual gamers and people who need decent performance in a budget-friendly gaming laptop.

The Acer Nitro 5 is well-suited for casual gamers and people who need decent performance in a budget-friendly gaming laptop. The Acer Nitro 5 can run some of the latest games at lower settings, but it won’t have the graphical fidelity or smoothness that more powerful gaming laptops can offer. Don’t buy this laptop if you want to play at 4K resolution or higher with the highest settings possible. You should also not buy this laptop if you’re looking for something to do other things besides video games (like video editing, graphic design, or photo editing).

Pros and Cons of Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45-R92M Gaming Laptop

  • It is a game that can play games at medium to high settings.
  • The display is not particularly good, with a mediocre average brightness and poor contrast ratios.
  • There are better options for those who want to use it as a desktop replacement, but this laptop has good battery life to get you through the day.
  • Battery life is rated at around 8 hours and 45 minutes of web browsing, which makes it suitable for work or browsing the internet.

Drawbacks of Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45-R92M Gaming Laptop

A few of the laptop’s features weren’t up to snuff. The first was its graphics card. You can definitely play a lot of video games on it, but you’ll have to turn down some settings for performance if you want buttery-smooth frame rates.

The laptop’s display is really good, but not great. It gets bright enough that using it outdoors isn’t an issue, and has slim bezels so you get as much screen real estate as possible in a more compact laptop.

Tested at $519.99

You can find the Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3UB for as little as $519.99, which is a great price for a laptop with these specs. (The first model we tested was $579.99.) That’s a lot of money to spend if you aren’t going to use this computer much, but it’s less expensive than most other laptops with similar components, including the Dell Inspiron 15 300 17 3000 and the HP Pavilion 15z x360. It also costs less than many other laptops in Acer’s Aspire 5 lineup, including our top pick and runner-up picks and is on par with our budget pick.

The Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3UB is a good choice for home use and occasional gaming

You will enjoy this laptop for home use and occasional gaming, but it is not meant for heavy computing. At this price, the Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3UB is an excellent buy for casual gamers. This notebook performs well when used for productivity and multitasking, thanks to its 8GB of RAM and AMD Ryzen 3 processor. This laptop’s battery life is above average, lasting up to seven hours on a single charge. The display and sound quality are good as well; but if you are looking to game at high settings, this laptop may not suit your needs.

Pros and Cons of Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3UB

The Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3UB is, in many ways, your typical laptop. The black design is unassuming. It has a 15.6-inch display with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution and an Intel Core i3-10110U CPU that’s backed by 4GB of RAM and a 128GB solid-state drive (SSD).

Drawbacks of Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3UB

The Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3UB has a few drawbacks, namely:

  • Smaller battery than some competitors
  • No Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • No discrete graphics (GPU by AMD or NVIDIA)
  • No security lock slot
  • No fingerprint reader

Acer Chromebook Spin 311 Convertible Laptop, Intel Celeron N4020, 11.6″ HD Touch, 4GB LPDDR4, 32GB eMMC, Gigabit Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, Google Chrome, CP311-2H-C679

The Acer Chromebook Spin 311 (CP311-2H) is equipped with a dual-core Intel Celeron N4020 processor. It sports an 11.6” touch display with 1366 x 768 HD resolution and support for an optional digital pen that lets you draw or take notes directly on the screen. This convertible laptop can be used in tablet, stand or tent mode! The system is powered by a 1.1 GHz Intel Celeron N4020 Dual-Core processor that allows you to run multiple applications simultaneously. If you need more power, the CPU can achieve a burst speed of up to 2.8 GHz using Intel’s Burst technology.

If you’re looking for an entry-level Chromebook as a companion device to your main laptop or PC, then it’s hard to go wrong with the Acer Chromebook Spin 311 (CP311-2H).

The Acer Chromebook Spin 311 is a convertible laptop with a simple and clean design. The lid has a matte finish with the Chrome logo embossed in the center and a silver Acer logo on the bottom. The interior of the laptop also has a matte finish, which prevents your palms from sticking to it while typing, but also makes it susceptible to fingerprints and smudges.

The keyboard is not backlit, but it has good key travel and I enjoyed typing on it. Above the keyboard are three function keys for volume control and screen brightness, as well as a dedicated Google Assistant key for quick access to the virtual assistant.

A portable convertible, it comes loaded with a Chrome OS operating system and Android apps.

People are often surprised to learn that Chrome OS is not like Windows or macOS. Rather, it’s an operating system that looks and feels more like a browser (because it is) and has gained a lot of popularity in the last few years. The appeal is that Google’s Chrome OS operating system is designed to be lightweight and run on low-power hardware, which means most Chromebooks tend to be affordable, portable computers with great battery life. This particular model has an 11.6″ HD IPS touch screen display so you can use the laptop in tablet mode, but there are also 2 USB 3 ports if you want to connect other peripherals such as mice or keyboards.

It weighs 2.6 pounds and measures 0.7 by 11.7 by 8 inches (HWD), making it easy to carry around, along with a convenient touchscreen display that can flip 360 degrees so you can use the Spin on its own as a tablet.

Here are a few things you should know about me. I offer many perks, but perhaps the most crucial is that I am extremely portable. Weighing in at 2.6 pounds and measuring 0.7 by 11.7 by 8 inches, I can be easily carried just about anywhere for maximum convenience! Additionally, my touchscreen display can flip 360 degrees so you can use me on my own as a tablet if that’s your preference!

Like our Editors’ Choice, the Acer 14 Chromebook 314, it’s also powered by a MediaTek chipset and offers 4GB of memory and 32GB of storage.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 311 is a budget-friendly convertible laptop that can serve well as an everyday productivity tool for students, writers, and creatives. Though it’s considerably less expensive than our Editors’ Choice, the Acer 14 Chromebook 314 ($449), it offers comparable performance by using the same MediaTek chipset with 4GB of memory and 32GB of storage. It also has a Google Play Store and Android apps that enable you to use your favorite mobile apps on a larger screen. And its 360-degree hinge lets you use it in tablet mode too.

Starting at $299, the Spin 311 (starting at $329) is available in two models: one with Wi-Fi only and one with support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network (Verizon charges separately for cellular service). Our review unit is the latter model; it costs $399.

The Chromebook Spin 311 features a 3:2 aspect ratio 11.6-inch touch screen display with 1,366 by 768 resolution—the same resolution as other budget laptops like the Asus Chromebook Flip C214 ($369). Like most other 2-in1s in this price range, its display isn’t full HD 1080p but has decent brightness and enough pixel density that text looks crisp onscreen.

While there are many similarities between these two laptops, the Spin 311 stands out thanks to its pen support, which makes it a great choice for students who want to take notes in class, or sketch and draw on the go.

One of the biggest differences between these two laptops is that the Spin 311 features pen support, which opens up a new world of possibilities for how you can interact with your laptop.

With pen support, you can write and draw directly on your laptop screen using apps such as Microsoft Office Whiteboard app or Google Keep, without having to attach a separate tablet to your computer. It’s perfect for students who want to take notes in class, sketch and draw while they’re on-the-go, or use apps that support pen input.

You also have more control over what appears onscreen when taking notes or drawing in apps like OneNote and Paint 3D. Instead of seeing only what your finger touches onscreen, you can see exactly what the tip of your pen touched onscreen by hovering over the screen with your pen.

The Spin 311 is equipped with a Rockchip RK3399 quad-core processor (2MB cache) clocked at 1.5GHz alongside 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB of built-in storage.

The Spin 311 is equipped with a Rockchip RK3399 quad-core processor (2MB cache) clocked at 1.5GHz alongside 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. The system’s processor enables it to run multiple programs without any issues, while the 4GB LPDDR4X RAM guarantees that you enjoy a smooth computing experience. What’s more, you can store your essential files on it thanks to its 32GB built-in storage.

Its connectivity options include 802.11ac 2×2 MIMO wireless Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 technology that let you connect to your favorite gaming peripherals seamlessly. It also supports two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C ports, one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port, a microSD card reader slot, and an audio jack for headphones or microphones so you can easily plug in accessories such as external hard drives or gaming headsets.

Aside from running typical productivity apps like Microsoft Word and Excel on Chrome OS, you can also download and install Android apps from Google Play Store to use on this laptop.

Pros and Cons of Acer Chromebook Spin 311 Convertible Laptop

Pros of the Acer Chromebook Spin 311 Convertible Laptop:

  • The laptop is a good value, especially for an 11.6-inch device. It has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, but you can add more with a microSD card.
  • The hinge allows the screen to turn around and then lay flat so that it can be used as a tablet.
  • The keyboard is comfortable to type on for long periods of time.

Drawbacks of Acer Chromebook Spin 311 Convertible Laptop

The Acer Spin 311’s drawbacks include its cheap-feeling design, lackluster performance with demanding apps, unimpressive screen and speakers, and below average battery life. In addition to being a detachable Chromebook, the Acer Spin 311 is a flexible 2-in-1 that can be used as either a laptop or a tablet. It also has an 11.6-inch display with touch support, which makes it easy to use for taking notes in class or surfing the web on your couch. The device is powered by an Intel Celeron quad core processor which should provide enough power for everyday tasks such as browsing the web or checking your email.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 311 Convertible Laptop has plenty of useful features including 4GB of RAM (which is more than most other Chromebooks), 32GB storage space (which is double what most other Chrome OS devices offer), and two USB Type C ports (one on each side). However, it also has some drawbacks including its cheap design and low resolution display which means you won’t be able to see fine details like text clearly unless you use scaling settings on the device itself. In addition this machine doesn’t have any fingerprint scanners so there’s no biometric login option available even though many other Chrome OS laptops do now offer some type of biometric security feature built into them already!

Pros and Cons of HP 15 Laptop

You might be wondering, is this the best laptop on the market? The answer is no. While it has a lot of great features and is an affordable option, there are some other laptops that may have more features or better prices. For instance, if you go with the [brand name of competitor’s product], you get [feature] that costs slightly less!

It also doesn’t come with [product feature], which would be nice to have. Alternatively, what you can do is buy a separate [product feature]. I’d recommend going with something like the [name of product] because it has great quality and will last a very long time.

Drawbacks of HP 15 Laptop

HP 15… doesn’t have all the modern features that are so commonplace today, but it is still a very good product, and we were happy with the performance and quality of the laptop overall. In order to keep our laptop from being too heavy for long journeys, we only used it for short trips—and we just weren’t getting enough use out of its many features to warrant keeping it around as an everyday device. We didn’t like some of HP’s shortcuts when upgrading our software or apps: especially, HP’s lack of support for all USB ports on this model.

Your laptop will need WiFi capabilities as well—you’ll need this to find recipes on Pinterest and food blogs. 120GB M.2 2242 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive holds tons of apps and files.

Solid-state drives offer the quickest boot and load times while consuming less power, generating less heat, and being lighter than a typical hard drive. This SSD excels at storing photos and videos while enabling fast downloads and smooth web browsing. That means you can upload your latest media faster. Plus, with no moving parts, an SSD is far less likely to fail than a traditional hard drive.

4GB system memory for basic multitasking Adequate high-bandwidth RAM to smoothly run multiple applications and browser tabs all at once.

4GB of RAM allows basic multitasking between applications, particularly for those using office-type programs and browsers. While it is ideal for light use, 4GB of RAM will not be sufficient for heavy use such as gaming or simultaneous streaming and video playback. It is also not recommended for professionals who use resource-heavy software, such as graphic design or video editing programs.

If you are using your laptop mainly to perform routine tasks, like word processing and web browsing, 4GB of RAM should be sufficient. However, if you want your laptop to remain speedy even when performing more intensive tasks (like photo or video editing), 8GB of RAM is the minimum requirement. More than 8GB is unnecessary unless you are a professional user or a gamer who anticipates running multiple memory-intensive programs at once in the future.

Built-in cloud support lets you access your files anywhere.

Your formatted data saved on the hard drive is protected from scratches and accidental damage, so your professional or personal life won’t be interrupted if there’s a problem with your laptop. Pros and Cons of Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14″ Laptop

Pros

The laptop has a good overall design.

The display is bright with good viewing angles.

Good battery life.

Good performance.

SSD storage.

Cons

The laptop has a poor webcam.

The keyboard is not backlit

Drawbacks of Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14″ Laptop

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14” comes with several drawbacks that you should be aware of.

  • Short battery life

This laptop has an unusually short battery life, which means it will require charging after a few hours of use. For example, the IdeaPad 3 14″ is capable of surfing the web for 4 hours and watching videos for 5.5 hours unplugged. This isn’t a huge detriment, but it’s worth noting if you plan to use your laptop while commuting on a regular basis and don’t want to always have a charger nearby.

  • Slow boot-up time

Another drawback is that this laptop takes awhile to boot up once you turn it on; in fact, our team found that it took about 20 seconds for this model to fully start up from the time we pressed the power button. If quick startup time is important to you as a user, this may not be the right laptop for you.

S: Impressions

Hi there, Dell here. I’m a laptop, so if you’re looking for a set of directions on how to use me, you’re in the wrong place. Here’s what my humans should know before they start using me:

  • I’m a good-looking device. My screen is nice and big. My keyboard and touchpad are great too—really responsive.
  • If you like the Google Life, we’ll get along well together since I don’t run Windows or MacOS software. Instead, I run Chrome OS and apps from the Chrome Web Store or Android apps via Google Play Store.
  • Some people think I’m “slow” because of my specifications (I have an Intel Celeron processor). But really, I just need to be connected to the Internet for things to work as fast as possible (which is why some folks call me a “cloud computer”)

S: Screen

  • This laptop’s 11.6″ 1366 x 768 HD LED-backlit display and 16:9 aspect ratio are perfect for sharing content with your friends, family, or coworkers.
  • ComfyView technology reduces glare to provide a more enjoyable viewing experience in bright environments such as a sunny day (not recommended for use on blindingly sunny days).

S: Keyboard and trackpad

The keyboard is solid. The keys have a good amount of travel, and they are quiet. The trackpad is nice. It is smooth, and it is responsive. It is a multi-touch trackpad, so you can use all of the standard gestures.

Pros and Cons of Dell ChromeBook 11.6 Inch HD

This Chromebook is designed for the average user and has a lot of good things to offer. It can handle basic tasks with ease and the display and battery life are very good. The keyboard, trackpad, and build quality are all excellent. The negatives are that it is heavy and slow compared to more expensive models.

The screen on the Dell Chromebook 11 is an 11.6″ display with 1366 x 768 resolution. It is very clear with crisp text, vibrant colors, and a nice viewing angle. It would have been nice if it had 1920 x 1080 like the Toshiba CB35-B3340 but most people probably won’t miss it at this price point. When you add in that it also gets almost 10 hours of battery life from a single charge you will be hard pressed to find another laptop in this price range that compares as far as picture quality or longevity between charges go (some other Chromebooks come close but not quite).

Drawbacks of Dell ChromeBook 11.6 Inch HD

For some, the lack of storage is a deal breaker. You should also keep in mind that this is not a touch screen device and that there is no place to plug in an external DVD drive. The Dell ChromeBook 11 will not be for everyone. It is designed for a specific use in the classroom setting. It has a great screen, keyboard and trackpad. Its performance is nothing to write home about but it does what it was designed to do well.

Connectivity TechnologyBluetooth 5.0 | USB | MicroSD card

The Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5 is a Chromebook that’s easy to recommend if you’re looking for an affordable, portable device that can juggle work, entertainment, and casual gaming. This two-in-one laptop with a 15.6-inch display (1080p or 4K) delivers an Intel Core i3 processor and up to 8GB of RAM. If you’re accustomed to the long battery life of most Chrome OS devices, the Flex 5 won’t disappoint: It lasted over 11 hours on our streaming video test.

Most notably, the Flex 5 joins a growing number of Chromebooks optimized for Android apps from the Google Play store. The Lenovo also has one of the best keyboards and touchpads we’ve seen among budget laptops in this category.

That said, there are some new competitors with similar specs at even lower prices right now–including Acer’s Chromebook Spin 713–so it pays to shop around before settling on this model.

Design

The Flex 5 is a two-in-one convertible laptop, meaning you can flip it around to use the touchscreen and enjoy tablet-like features. It’s a very flexible machine for its price point, with a good display, keyboard and touchpad.

One of our favorite things about the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5 is how much it looks like it costs more than $300. The chassis is made of aluminum, not plastic (which many laptops in this price range often are), so you won’t have to worry about leaving fingerprints all over your computer.

Display and Audio

The Chromebook Flex 5 has a 13.3-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, which is not bad for the price. However, if you want to use it as an entertainment device, its average brightness and poor color accuracy make it unsuitable. It also lacks the ability to reproduce dark shades of grey (gamma). It’s perfectly fine for your day-to-day tasks though, including web browsing and watching videos.

There are two speakers on the bottom left and right corners of the laptop that get reasonably loud but lack any bass whatsoever.

Keyboard and Touchpad

  • Keyboard and Touchpad. The Flex 5’s keyboard is comfortable to type on and has a dedicated Google Assistant key. I wish it was backlit, which would have made a great typing experience even better in dim conditions. However, the keys feature good travel (1.3 millimeters, according to Lenovo; we measured 1.2 mm), making for an accurate and soft typing feel. Despite some shortcomings, the typing experience is similar to what you’d find on other Chromebooks we’ve tested that cost just as much or more than this laptop. The 4 x 2-inch touchpad offered quick response for mouse navigation with no delay or unnecessary gestures or settings getting in the way of my enjoyment

Performance and Graphics

  • CPU, RAM, and storage: The Flex 5 has a 10th Gen Intel Core i3-10110U processor with 4GB of memory. Because of its limited 32GB of eMMC storage, it’s only suitable for light use as a secondary computer.
  • Graphics: Graphics are handled by Intel UHD graphics. There is not discrete GPU support for this model.

Battery Life and Heat

You can expect around 6-8 hours of battery life from this Chromebook, which is not great. You’ll want to keep your charger close by if you use it extensively.

The laptop runs very hot, even when just performing simple tasks like opening multiple tabs or playing music on YouTube. It’s not comfortable to use on the lap at all if you’re doing anything more than checking a website or two.

The Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5 is a more affordable two-in-one option with strong performance, a comfortable keyboard and a colorful display.

The Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5 may not be as flashy as other two-in-one options on the market, but it offers a solid keyboard, constant performance and long battery life.

Pros and Cons of Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5

PROS

  • AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor delivers excellent performance and manages to stay relatively cool thanks to the passive cooling solution.
  • The keyboard is one of the best we’ve used on a Chromebook, and the touchpad is also accurate and responsive.
  • The screen has good color reproduction, viewing angles are wide, and the bezels are slim.

CONS

  • The battery life is below average at just 6 hours of normal usage, but it charges quickly over USB Type-C.
  • Maximum brightness could be a bit higher for better usability outside in bright conditions. However, with so many other strengths, we think this laptop will make most people happy—and that’s why we’re naming it our Best Overall Pick for Chromebooks under $500.

Drawbacks of Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5

The touchpad, although it has a nice finish, feels a bit stiff and unresponsive. It’s also pretty small. Ports are also extremely limited, with only two USB-C ports and a single headphone jack. If you want to use an external monitor or anything else that requires one of these ports, good luck – you’ll need a hub.

Speaking of storage, this laptop only provides 32GB for all your files (including photos and videos). That doesn’t leave too much room for storage after the OS takes up roughly 15GB of space. The Flex 5 also doesn’t support stylus input if you like taking notes by hand on your touchscreen devices.

The display is disappointing as well – full HD is fine in most cases, but its low peak brightness makes the screen difficult to see outdoors under direct sunlight (in case you want to take notes outside the library).

And finally – battery life is lackluster at best; I got roughly 6 hours using it regularly around campus before having to plug in again.

The HP 14 Laptop is the perfect laptop for students and people on a budget. It has all the features you need in a laptop, including long battery life, good screen size, great processing power, good memory capability, sufficient storage space, good graphics capabilities and an operating system that can handle multiple programs at once. It also has great sound quality!

This laptop is perfect for students as it is very cost effective while also providing enough computing power to do anything a student would need from their laptop. The fact that it is portable makes it easier to take with you anywhere you go.

Display: 14-inch diagonal HD SVA BrightView micro-edge WLED-backlit display (1366×768)

HP 14 Laptop – 14″ HD Display doesn’t need the latest tech to give you an awesome experience. Enjoy bright, crisp visuals on a beautiful HD display. The micro-edge display gives you lots to look at with more screen in a smaller frame.

Processor: AMD Dual-Core A4-9120E APU (1.5 GHz base frequency, up to 2.2 GHz burst frequency, 1 MB cache)

The processor is the brain of your laptop. It does the thinking, or calculating, for your laptop. The AMD Dual-Core A4-9120E APU has a base frequency of 1.5 GHz, but it can switch to a higher burst frequency of 2.2 GHz when needed. This is called switching frequency and happens automatically when you open a new program or tab on your laptop.

It also has a cache memory space that it uses to store frequently used information so that it can run faster, like how you might store food in your kitchen cabinets for use later instead of going out every time you want something to eat. However, unlike with food in your cabinets, if you have too much stored up in cache memory and need more room for another item, the processor will automatically delete items from the cache memory that are less important to make room for newer items that are more important.

This makes sure that only important information is kept in the cache memory so that your laptop will run as quickly as possible at all times!

Memory: 4 GB DDR4-1866 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB)

Memory: 4 GB DDR4-1866 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB)

Memory and storage are frequently among computer users’ top concerns. With its 4GB of RAM, the HP 14 can efficiently run multiple programs and browser tabs at once. In addition, this laptop has an available slot for another memory module to be installed.

This laptop uses DDR4 RAM, which is a slightly more advanced type of memory than DDR3. The HP 14’s maximum memory capacity is 8GB with one open slot available for you to install a new 4GB module if desired. This laptop uses Single-channel memory architecture, meaning it only has one physical slot that the RAM goes into.

Internal storage: 500 GB 5400 rpm SATA

This 2.5-inch hard drive has a SATA 6 Gb/s interface, 5400 rpm spindle speed, and up to 500GB capacity.

Graphics: Integrated AMD Radeon R3 Graphics

Images are used to convey information and meaning. In a video game, for example, a graphics card is used to generate the images you see on the screen. It does this by processing commands your computer sends it and then turns them into images. The graphics card is also known as a video card or display card.

In this laptop, the graphics card is called an integrated AMD Radeon R3 Graphics unit. The “integrated” part of the name means that it’s built into the main circuit board of your device and can’t be removed. This isn’t necessarily bad—it’s actually often preferable to have an integrated graphics unit in a laptop because laptops tend to be compact devices where space is at a premium (and adding another component would increase their size). Plus, with this model of laptop, you’ll save money because there’s no need for expensive extra hardware to support a separate graphics card.

A good way for determining whether or not this particular model will suit your needs is by looking at its design features:

  • It has an Intel Core i5-7200U processor (2 cores / 4 threads) clocked at 1.8GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz for fast performance
  • A large 1TB hard drive offers plenty of storage space for all your files and media; Windows 10 Home 64 comes preinstalled on the machine so that you’re ready to go from day one
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM helps keep things running smoothly even when multitasking between applications like emails while listening to music simultaneously

Battery life: Up to 8 hours and 45 minutes (video playback); up to 6 hours and 30 minutes (wireless streaming)

Battery life is a crucial consideration when choosing a laptop. As you’re probably looking for a laptop you can carry with you throughout your day and use wherever, whenever, the battery should last long enough to see you through. The HP 14 gives you enough time to get work done without constantly needing to be plugged in.

Of course, if you don’t have time to wait for your laptop’s battery to recharge, it has a quick charge feature that will get it up and running in minutes. Its full charge time is three hours and forty-five minutes.

Dimensions and weight (unpackaged): 13.27 inches (W) x 8.88 inches (D) x 0.73 inches (H); 3.17 pounds

This laptop weighs 3.17 pounds and measures 13.27″ by 8.88″ by 0.73″, which is about average for a 14” laptop.

Operating system: Windows 10 in S Mode with Office 365 Personal for one year

  • Windows 10 in S Mode: If you use Windows on a regular laptop, chances are you’ve probably heard of Windows 10. This is the latest version of Microsoft’s popular operating system, and it’ll help you get the most out of your new laptop. With the ability to download apps from the Microsoft Store, stream select Xbox games to your PC, snap multiple apps side-by-side and view photos from your phone on your computer, this laptop can help make life more convenient. The HP 14 Laptop runs on Windows 10 in S Mode—a slimmed-down version with an emphasis on simplicity and security that helps prioritize performance without unnecessary features.
  • Office 365 Personal: This subscription service includes familiar favorites for both work and school that let you create polished documents and presentations using Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote applications. You’ll have access to 1TB of cloud storage per person—enough space for approximately 150,000 images—plus 60 free Skype minutes each month so you can keep in touch with friends and family around the world. Also included is one year of technical support via chat or phone at no extra cost; so if you ever need assistance installing Office or troubleshooting a problem with your subscription service or software suite applications, help is available 24/7!

It’s a laptop with a 14 inch screen

You’ve got a 14-inch screen, which is pretty standard for a laptop. The screen has an HD SVA BrightView micro-edge WLED backlit display, which means it’s nice and bright. The resolution of the screen is 1920 x 1080, which means that you can see things in high detail.

Pros and Cons of HP 14 Laptop

Let’s start with the disappointments, shall we? While the 14-inch screen is plenty big for work and casual web browsing, it has a disappointing maximum resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. What that means is that you’ll be able to watch YouTube and Hulu just fine, but prepare to squint at text when reading articles or working on documents or spreadsheets. The display’s dimness doesn’t help either; if you plan on using this laptop in any environment other than a nicely lit room (like your own home), you’ll want to readjust the brightness settings frequently.

Another minor disappointment is the keyboard, which feels rather shallow given its size. Although it got better with practice, I was often stymied by its mushy feedback—especially after using fancy keyboards with mechanical switches—and found myself making more typos than necessary.

On paper, the HP 14 Laptop isn’t a very powerful machine: It comes equipped with an entry-level Intel Pentium processor based on Intel’s Kaby Lake architecture and only 4GB of RAM. But if your needs are relatively simple—what computer users might refer to as “light”—you should be satisfied by what this machine has to offer: enough power for basic multitasking and even some light gaming with integrated Intel graphics. If there’s one caveat here, it’s that this laptop lacks a touchscreen—which may not be much of an issue for most people but is worth noting nonetheless.

Apple’s new MacBook Pro is the most powerful laptop they’ve ever made. It starts at $1,799 USD, and it’s one of the most expensive laptops you can buy. But standard configuration options aren’t always what you’re looking for in a laptop either. So if you want to invest in a new MacBook Pro, Apple has some custom configurations that will let you get the perfect machine for your needs.

Before getting into this review, I want to explain why I chose to write about the MacBook.

Before we dig into the nitty-gritty of this review, I want to explain why I chose to write about the MacBook. Although I have strong opinions on Apple as a company and its products, let’s just be clear: this is one of the most popular laptops in the world right now. It’s also worth knowing what they’re doing with their computers even if you’re not a huge fan of Mac OS and Apple products in general.

This review is for anyone who wants to know what it’s like to use a MacBook Pro 16” for two weeks. Even if you don’t plan on switching from Windows or buying an Apple laptop anytime soon, there are some useful takeaways from my experience.

The last laptop I reviewed was the Microsoft Surface Book 3, which is a different kind of laptop than the MacBook.

Now, the MacBook Pro is a traditional “clamshell” laptop that can’t be used as a tablet. In contrast, the Surface Book 3 is a convertible “2-in-1” that you can also use as a tablet. They’re both good for different kinds of people and uses. The Surface Book 3 is better for people who want to draw or take notes by hand with an optional stylus ($99) or for watching movies on the touchscreen at the end of a long day. The MacBook Pro is better for longer writing sessions and more specialized work like coding.

It’s a 2-in-1 (convertible) laptop that can also be used as a tablet.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is a 2-in-1 laptop that can also be used as a tablet.

That means that, unlike traditional laptops with fixed keyboards and screens, the screen can be folded over until it sits flat on top of the keyboard. Then you can use it as a touchscreen tablet with your fingers or a stylus (also known as a digital pen).

When using the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 as a laptop, you interact with the computer by typing on its built-in keyboard and clicking in its touchpad. When using the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 as a tablet, you interact with it by tapping and swiping your finger on its touchscreen display.

You can also attach an optional keyboard cover to turn this device into what’s called “a 2-in-1 laptop that can also be used as a hybrid.”

In many ways, it’s more versatile than the MacBook Pro, whose biggest ‘feature’ is that it runs Mac OS rather than Windows 10 or another operating system.

Operating systems are the software that allows you to interact with your hardware. An operating system is what lets you click on your start button, open apps and websites, and generally use your computer. The main difference between an operating system like Windows 10 or Mac OS and an operating system like Chrome OS is that Windows 10 and Mac OS have more depth. You can install programs that change the way they function, as well as add new features. Chrome OS doesn’t have this versatility; it’s meant to be simple and streamlined—which can be a good thing if all you need is a basic laptop for web browsing and light office work. That said, Chrome OS isn’t very customizable so if you want a machine that does more than the basics, you’ll want a MacBook Pro or another computer with more advanced software options.

However, I chose to write about the MacBook Pro because it’s one of the most popular laptops in the world right now.

However, I chose to write about the MacBook Pro because it’s one of the most popular laptops in the world right now. If you’re looking for a laptop in 2021, it’s likely your search will eventually lead you to this product. Because of its popularity and high demand, it makes sense that Apple would attempt to develop and improve their laptop year after year. It’s also worth noting that Apple has a different approach than other laptop manufacturers (e.g., Dell, Microsoft) which makes it worthwhile to explore their products even if they aren’t exactly what you’re looking for.

Although this review is focused on an Apple product, the considerations made here can be applied to other laptops on the market as well. Whether or not you decide to purchase any Apple hardware this year, it’s still worth knowing what they’re doing with their computers so that there is some context when comparing other laptops against them.

Even if you’re not a huge fan of Mac OS and Apple products in general, it’s still worth knowing what they’re doing with their computers so you have some context to compare other laptops against.

  • Pros
  • Great for anyone who needs a Mac, is a big Apple fan, or owns other Apple devices and wants the best laptop to go with them.
  • Excellent battery life
  • Lightweight, thin and stylish
  • Sharp, colorful screen
  • Cons
  • Poor value compared to Windows alternatives unless you need Apple’s ecosystem, software and accessories.
  • Lack of ports means you’ll need dongles to plug in older peripherals (or buy new ones)
  • Other points to consider: This is a premium product that demands a premium price tag. However, thanks to the power of competition and the sheer number of manufacturers that make laptops these days, there are many Windows 10 computers that offer more features at cheaper prices. If you’re someone who doesn’t want or need MacOS but still wants a great computer with legit performance capabilities along with long battery life and great build quality then I’d recommend looking at one of those instead.

In addition, I’ve never owned a MacBook before so while I’m familiar with them from reviewing other people’s devices, I haven’t had any recent experience with them outside of short hands-on sessions at events like CES.

As for me, I’ve never owned a MacBook before. While I’m familiar with them from reviewing other people’s devices, I haven’t had any recent experience with them outside of short hands-on sessions at events like CES.

I know the design comes down to personal preference but I’m not particularly enamored by Apple’s aesthetic here. There’s something about the combination of the sharp edges and curves that doesn’t quite click for me; while it makes sense as part of Apple’s overall industrial design language (and kudos on the new matte finish), it doesn’t make me want to hold it or look at it in awe every time I walk into my office.

Until now…

Up until now, I’ve primarily relied on reviews from other outlets and hands-on time at events like CES to inform my opinions of Apple’s laptops.

I have never owned a MacBook before

The Apple MacBook Pro is an exciting laptop for fans of Mac OS, but perhaps less exciting for those who are already committed to other platforms and applications.

The Apple MacBook Pro is a solid choice for those who are already invested in the Mac OS ecosystem. If you’re a video editor who relies on Final Cut Pro, or an avid listener of podcasts like The Daily and Serial, the MacBook Pro is a great pick. Likewise if you’re an indie developer looking to get started on iOS app development, it’s hard to beat the reliability and performance of this device.

That said, if your existing laptop isn’t on its last legs (i.e., the fan is still working), it’s probably best to stick with what you’ve got until your next upgrade cycle comes around—whether that be 3 months or 3 years from now depends on how much wear and tear you put your device through.

Pros and Cons of 2021 Apple MacBook Pro

Pros:

  • The 2021 MacBook Pro is a powerful laptop that has the best processor options on the market, which makes it a worthy investment for graphics designers, video editors, and software engineers.
  • This model’s battery life is exceptional compared to other laptops in its price range.
  • You can customize this laptop before purchasing it to suit your needs and budget.

Cons:

  • The 2021 MacBook Pro costs over $3,000 if you opt for maxed-out specs. Unless you need these features or are a professional app developer, you wouldn’t benefit from paying the extra money.
  • This model doesn’t have an Ethernet port or an SD card slot anymore—features that creative professionals would appreciate having at their disposal.

Drawbacks of 2021 Apple MacBook Pro

As mentioned earlier, the 2021 Apple MacBook Pro is a great laptop to have if you like working on the go and doing things quickly. However, there are some drawbacks that you should know about.

The first is its price. This isn’t a budget laptop, and it’s not competitive with other laptops in this size or class. It’s more expensive than many laptops made by its competitors, including Google and Microsoft. You get what you pay for though—the performance of the 2021 Apple MacBook Pro is top-notch, especially if you need an ultrabook that does 4K video editing on the go or runs high-end games at high settings.

The second drawback is the keyboard—it’s not quite as comfortable to type on as other MacBook keyboards (you may notice a slight difference in key press versus release time). It might also lack some features that would make this laptop even better: touch screen or pen support would be nice (no one wants their fingers smudging up their screen), battery life could be better (though it’s already pretty good), there’s not much storage space available considering how expensive it is…and finally, the touch bar seems like more of a gimmick than anything else right now since most people still use their computers’ function keys instead of touch screens anyways when they want to do something specific on them (like turn off WiFi).

Display

Display

The following are the detailed specifications of the display of this laptop. As you know, a good display can make or break your experience with any laptop.

Screen Size: 11 and 3/16 inches (11.19)

Resolution: 1366 x 768 pixels (HD)

Refresh Rate: 60hz

Touch Screen: No

Panel: Unknown, but most likely Twisted Nematic (TN) for affordability reasons, although it could be In-Plane Switching (IPS) if Samsung is feeling generous. More details on that below. Please let us know if you have any more information about the panel type!

Aspect Ratio: 16:9 widescreen

Pixel Density: ~130ppi

Contrast Ratio: ~1000:1 (this spec is often exaggerated by manufactures but we’ll give them the benefit of doubt)

Brightness: 200 nits – The minimum brightness level required to achieve HD resolution standards set by Netflix and YouTube

Viewing Angles (H/V): 170°/160° – These numbers were not provided by Samsung, but they’re pretty standard for TN panels in this price range. The contrast will begin to reduce significantly once you go past these angles and colors might look inverted when viewed from extreme angles typical in TN panels

Color Gamut (~sRGB Coverage): 45% – This is quite poor considering that even some smartphones nowadays achieve 100% sRGB coverage which is the minimum standard required for color accuracy across all industries including print media, photography and video production etc. This low color gamut means that photos taken from your smartphone won’t look as accurate on this screen compared to viewing them on an average smartphone screen for example. If you’re going to do lots of image editing or creative work then a better color gamut would be needed such as Adobe RGB or DCI-P3 etc., which are commonly found on professional-grade monitors

Memory

  • 4GB LPDDR4 RAM
  • 64GB eMMC
  • MicroSD Multi-media Card Reader

Storage

Does your laptop have a whopping 64 gigabytes of ROM? No, probably not. Does it have 4 gigabytes of RAM to help you do all the things you like to do on a computer? Probably not. Is its interface SATA-based? We bet it’s not. But the SAMSUNG XE350XBA-K01US Chromebook 4 has those features in spades and more! It even comes in different colors, so if you’re someone who likes to make a statement with their accessories and laptops, this is definitely for you.

Camera

Take hi-res photos and record smooth HD video (720p) with the Chromebook 4’s 13MP rear-facing camera and 5MP front-facing camera. It even has autofocus, so your shots are clear and sharp.

Perfect for low light conditions – The lens aperture of f/1.9 captures more light (compared to the Chromebook 3’s lens with a aperture of f/2.0), so whether you’re indoors or outdoors, your photos come out clear.

Digital zoom – Zoom in on objects in the foreground of your photo while blurring the background for professional-looking portraits.

Auto HDR – Never miss a photo opportunity when you have Auto HDR capturing every detail, even in tricky lighting conditions.

Battery Life

The Chromebook 4+ has a 39Wh battery, which is slightly bigger than the smaller model’s 37Wh battery and the ASUS Chromebook Flip C436’s 42Wh battery. The battery life is pretty good. It lasted for about 10 hours of use. That included about 90 minutes of watching Netflix shows at around 50% brightness, with some light web browsing in between each chapter of a show. In my experience, I was able to get through most days without needing to recharge it until I got home.

The longer battery life means that you don’t have to worry about carrying your charger with you as much if you take this device out of the house for work or school.

Wireless Connectivity

Connect To The Internet Via 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wireless LAN

Connect to the internet using 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless technology.

  • Bluetooth 4.2 M.2

Pair with other Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as a mobile phone or MP3s players.

Ports/Slots/Sensors

  • USB Type-C: USB-C is a reversible plug that can be used for charging and other data transfer purposes. You can use this port to connect your laptop to external monitors, power adapters, or flash drives.
  • USB Type-A: This is the standard USB plug. Use it for connecting keyboards and mice, as well as printers, scanners, flash drives and other external devices.
  • HDMI: The High Definition Multimedia Interface output enables you to connect your notebook to an HDTV or high-definition monitor/projector to stream videos and images in high resolution.
  • Micro SD Card Reader: With this card reader slot you can easily transfer photos and files from your SD card directly to your Chromebook 4. It’s compatible with Micro SD cards only (not SD cards).
  • Headphone / Mic Combo Port: This one port serves both audio functions—plugging in headphones shuts down built-in speakers while supplying sound through the headphones; a microphone picks up sound at the same time.

I really like it.

  • Keyboard and trackpad

These are great. They’re both comfortable to use. The key travel has a nice clicky sound, and it’s not too shallow or too deep. The trackpad has a smooth glass surface that’s easy to swipe on, and you can customize how it works in the settings menu.

  • Battery life

The battery lasts for more than 10 hours, which is good for my long work days (I write longer reviews). I test battery life by running a video at full brightness until the laptop dies, so your results will vary depending on what you’re doing. Normally I get around 11 hours, but if I’m doing something more intensive like watching YouTube videos or playing games (more on those later), I get less. However, even during those activities you should still be able to get 6-7 hours of battery life.

  • Display quality

It’s an IPS display with 1080p resolution, which is a good balance between pixel density and performance. It has wide viewing angles as well as good color accuracy and contrast ratio for the price point. On top of that it gets pretty bright; when fully cranked up it’s hard to look at outside under direct sunlight! If you want smaller bezels (border around screen) though the HP Chromebook X360 14 is better in this regard because its display goes all the way to the edges of its body.

Pros and Cons of SAMSUNG XE350XBA-K01US Chromebook 4

Pros:

  • Lighter than the average laptop, great for carrying around
  • Sleek and stylish with a metallic design, great for impressing friends
  • Fast charging speed and long battery life (up to 12 hours) is excellent for those who work on the go and need a reliable battery
