The lens is a bit slow to focus, but not as bad as some of the cheaper lenses I’ve used. The autofocus motor is a little noisy and it can be heard in videos so be aware if you’re shooting video at any length on this lens. It’s also a bit heavy and that can make it feel like you’re holding more than one lens when using it for long periods of time (which I did for about 5 hours straight).

The only real drawback with this lens is that it doesn’t have the sharpest image quality out there by any means. If you’re looking for razor sharp images then definitely look elsewhere but if you want great bokeh and an overall fun experience with your camera then this may be just what you need!

  • I love this lens! It’s sharp, fast and beautiful bokeh! I use it mostly for portrait work but sometimes I just shoot some street photography with it or some other things with a nice shallow depth of field. The lens is not heavy at all and very small too (compared to 85mm f/1.4). You can also get EXIF data from the camera by attaching an extension tube between your camera and lens which will change your aperture from 1.8 to 2-3 smaller values such as f/3.5 or 4 depending on what you choose (I chose f/4). This lens is not recommended for low light or night photography. When you zoom in, there is a lot of noise and the image seems to get blurry. The lens also has trouble focusing on close-up shots. However, if you want to take photos of landscapes, this lens is a good choice. It is heavy but will give you great results.
