Users of all levels can enjoy professional-looking footage thanks to the Ronin-S’s SmoothTrack technology. This is a feature that makes shooting smooth, consistent footage easy—even for those who are just beginning with gimbals. The technology predicts the user’s movement and then applies the appropriate counterweight so that your shot stays level. All you have to do is hold down the focus button, move your camera and let SmoothTrack take care of making it look great. No need for time-consuming post processing like smoothing out shaky footage later!

MAXIMUM CREATIVE FREEDOM: The Ronin-S’s innovative design empowers creators to shoot with the freedom of stabilized shots on the move.

The Ronin-S is a single-handed stabilizer for DSLR cameras. Equipped with that allows you to shoot smooth cinematic footage on the move, it transforms your camera into a professional movie-making machine.

pro and cons of DJI Ronin-S – Camera Stabilizer 3-Axis Gimbal Handheld for DSLR Mirrorless

PROS

  • The Ronin S is the best gimbal out there. You can’t go wrong with it. It’s amazing!
  • I love this thing so much! It’s just great and I’m so happy I bought it. This is a dream come true!
  • Love this Gimbal, the build quality is excellent and it’s close to balanced out of the box for my Canon 80D

CONS

  • You need a focus trigger or followfocus mechanism to be able to control your focus during shooting. If you don’t want to spend money in that, then at least buy two of these cables and use one on each side of the gimbal (the USB port is only on one side)

CUSTOMIZABLE HANDLES & WHEEL CONTROLS: The ergonomic handle incorporates an integrated grip that can be used in either a single- or double-handed configuration.

The ergonomic handle incorporates an integrated grip that can be used in either a single- or double-handed configuration. The side handle rotates 180°, allowing it to be placed on either side of the gimbal. Additionally, the DJI Ronin-S features a camera control wheel that allows you to adjust focus, ISO and shutter settings.

EASY TO USE, EASY TO CARRY: Thanks to its simplified design, setup takes just three minutes and weight has been reduced by nearly 1/2 over previous models, so you can get out of the studio and into more creative spaces.

Even if you’re not a filmmaker, you can be a filmmaker. You live life. You record it. The Ronin-S has everything you need to bring your vision to the screen. It’s compact, durable, and stable enough for any adventure. From the winter wonderlands of the Arctic to the sweltering Sahara desert, let your creativity guide the way.

drawbacks DJI Ronin-S – Camera Stabilizer 3-Axis Gimbal Handheld for DSLR Mirrorless Cameras

Unfortunately, the Ronin-S does not come with a full set of controls like the Zhiyun Crane 2. This means you will be limited to how much you can adjust settings on the fly. For example, if you want to adjust your ISO or some other setting that isn’t on a dial, you will have to pull out your camera and change the settings there.

The Ronin-S has no internal battery so it is solely dependent upon having a camera attached to it in order for it to power on. This is an interesting decision made by DJI since they could have easily added an internal battery as well as providing power through their port.

The app works but is buggy and needs some work done (as of this writing). I had several issues where my phone would disconnect from the gimbal after being connected for a while or when I powered up the gimbal with my phone already connected.

pro and cons of DJI Ronin-SC – Camera Stabilizer, 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal for DSLR

If you’re looking to film video with a mirrorless camera, or a DSLR that weighs less than 4.4 pounds, this is the model for you. It has all of the same features as the DJI Ronin-S, but it’s smaller and lighter weight. The entire thing collapses down to 13 inches by 3 inches by 5.5 inches, which makes it more portable than other models on our list. However, this size does mean that there are some slight trade-offs when it comes to functionality: Because it’s so small, it can only support cameras weighing up to 4.4 pounds (the DJI Ronin-S can hold up to 8 pounds). Also because of its light weight, the Ronin-SC isn’t recommended for low temperature climates or high winds above 20mph. While all gimbals need an occasional reset to stay balanced—particularly if you are swapping out lenses or changing camera settings—this one needs a little more TLC during filming than others on our list.

With improved stabilization performance, motors with higher torque and better heat dissipation, and intuitive new features such as a quick roll motor for switching between portrait and landscape shots, the Ronin-SC is the perfect complement to any filmmaker’s professional kit.

  • Undesirable features include:
  • A $400 price tag.
  • Its weight of 2.6 pounds (1,180 grams).
  • This is not a perfect Gimbal; therefore, you must be careful when handling it.

drwabacks of DJI Ronin-SC – Camera Stabilizer, 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal for DSLR

The Ronin-SC is not perfect and there are a few drawbacks. First, the gimbal only works in the horizontal mode, meaning that you cannot flip it to vertical mode to shoot portraits without having to physically rotate the camera on the gimbal. Second, there is no built-in screen like you will find on DJI’s other gimbals like the Ronin 2 or Mavic Pro drones. You will need to use your smartphone or DSLR monitor with a separate app and cables for the best results. Third, if you want long battery life then you will have to spend extra money for an external power brick. Even with these drawbacks though, I would still recommend this gimbal for anyone who wants a compact and lightweight yet professional grade 3-axis stabilizer that can be used as both handheld or mounted on a tripod

Battery type: LiPo 2S

You may be wondering, “What is a LiPo battery?” Well, before we answer that question, you need to know what the prefix “Li” means. It refers to lithium, an alkali metal found on the periodic table of elements. Lithium is a very light metal with plenty of practical applications. For example, did you know that NASA uses lithium-hydroxide canisters to remove carbon dioxide from their spacecraft life support systems?

LiPo batteries (the acronym stands for Lithium Polymer) are also known as:

4.DJI RS 2 Combo – 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer for DSLR

Item Dimensions LxWxH10.2 x 10.4 x 2.8 inches
Item Weight2.87 Pounds
Maximum Weight Recommendation5.8 Kilograms

DJI’s latest entry in its line of three-axis gimbals has a few interesting tricks up its sleeve. For starters, it can be used in both camera stabilization mode (still shots) and video mode (slow-motion) for higher shooting speed and detail. That’s neat! And the dual motors allow for smooth flight, even in breezy conditions as well as when you’re holding the camera with one hand and trying to fly with the other.

That said, it does not support a 4K camera. It does not have an integrated battery charger or convenient on-board storage compartment; there is no way to charge it without detaching the controller from your drone via USB cable. You might think that this is a major drawback—but not so much if you already own two drones: If you and your spouse already own two drones, then you could each own a DJI RS 2 Combo 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer for DSLR and use them simultaneously to cover different shooting angles (for example, top/bottom or left/right).

This product costs some $1000, which might be costly for most people. It is not easy for many people to afford it.

The instruction is not clear

It is hard for us to figure out how we can use this gimbal well and make our video better since the instruction inside is not clear enough.

1 GIMBAL STABILIZER – The RSC 2 is a 3-axis gimbal stabilizer for mirrorless and DSLR cameras. It has an OLED screen, camera control, auto-tune, sport mode, time-lapse, motion-lapse, panorama, and track function.

What is a gimbal?

Gimbals are devices that allow the rotation of an object about a single axis. A set of two or three gimbals, one mounted on the other with orthogonal pivot axes, may be used to allow an object mounted on the innermost gimbal to remain independent of the rotation of its support (e.g. vertical in the first animation). For example, on ships this is called a gyrocompass, which can be used to find geographical direction automatically.

A Gimbal has two rotational degrees of freedom and its purpose is to diminish rotation around two or more axes so that an object mounted on its end stays motionless no matter how it’s moved around by external forces. For example, if you hold your smartphone vertically in one hand and rotate your torso from side to side, your device will follow your movement unless you’re using some kind of stabilizer. In order for a device like this to function properly it needs at least two gimbals arranged so that their axes are perpendicular relative to each other and thus create 3-dimensional stability space for whatever needs stabilizing – camera for instance!

FOLDABLE DESIGN – The RSC 2 can fit in most camera bags due to its foldable design that reduces its size by 75%. Its intelligent cooling system makes it ideal for long periods of filming with heat sensitive cameras

The RSC 2 has a 3-axis that allows it to be completely stable while following movement. Its built-in motor features linear actuators housed in a high-torque brushed DC motor in order to provide more precise tracking than any other similar gimbal out there. Furthermore, the gimbal comes equipped with an intelligent flight battery which automatically shuts off the motors and stops recording screens when the battery is fully charged or empty. The DJI RSC 2’s brushless DC motor provides high torque allowing for ultra smooth operation with no load fluctuation even during fast moving shots.

Maximum Weight Recommendation5.8 Kilograms

You can capture cinematic footage as easily as you shoot photos with the 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer for DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras from DJI. This gimbal stabilizer offers professional stabilization, intelligent AI features, and an improved design over the previous model to create a versatile tool for both photography and videography applications.

For this update, DJI has added an array of new features that enhance its usability and versatility. The Angle Lock feature lets you lock the camera at a specific angle to create more dynamic shots. Thanks to a redesigned motor structure, it can now balance cameras weighing up to 10 lb without risk of them falling off or losing stability. Intelligent auto-tune algorithms detect external factors affecting performance in real time and adjust accordingly so you can get smooth footage no matter what conditions you’re shooting in.

And if you have multiple gimbals on set, multiple users can connect and control their own separately via Bluetooth with the Ronin app installed on their iOS or Android device. You can also use the app to customize settings such as motor parameters and deadband to suit your individual needs using simple sliders rather than complex menus

3-AXIS STABILIZATION: Three powerful HNCS motors compensate for a wide range of camera movements in every direction at all times.

The HNCS motor, short for high-power, noise-canceling, coreless servo motor, was developed by DJI to allow RS 2 to support the widest range of cameras and lens combinations. In addition to cancelling the noise generated by the motor itself, it also allows RS 2 to provide a stable hold on your setup even when you are shooting handheld.

PRECISION CONTROL: The sophisticated algorithm in the DJI RS 2 allows you to control your camera’s pitch, roll, and yaw movements with ease.

With the control ring, you can command the gimbal to follow, lock on or free your settings. You can even adjust them to 360º panoramas, time-lapses and motion-lapses with a few clicks of a button.

Compatible with the Ronin 2 App, you can use it as a remote controller or to control up to five gimbals at once. It also enables you to customize controls and save multiple modes as presets through Bluetooth connection.

The DJI RS 2 is compatible with a wide range of cameras and lenses including most Canon, Nikon and other DSLR cameras that weigh less than 6 lbs.

RONIN MOUNTING PLATE: The new universal Ronin mounting plate quick release adapter has been designed to support a wider range of cameras & lenses.

ROCKSTEADY TECHNOLOGY: RockSteady combines EIS with complex algorithms to make sure your footage comes out stable and shake-free.

The RS 2’s Rocksteady technology combines EIS and complex algorithms to deliver a smooth, shake-free video. You can use Rocksteady in all gimbal modes, ideal for both handheld and tripod workflows. With up to 3x stronger motors, the RS 2 has a payload range of 240g – 4500g and is compatible with a wide array of cameras and lenses.

You should know that this gimbal does not work well with some cameras. For example, the mirrorless camera with an electronic viewfinder will not benefit from using this stabilizer. According to the manufacturer, you need a camera without an electronic viewfinder so that it may pivot freely when mounted on the gimbal. When you use this gimbal on a camera with an electronic viewfinder, it will work as intended – stabilize your image – but there is no way to look through the viewfinder due to its position on the stabilizer. The manufacturer has stated that in order for their stabilizers to work correctly with cameras having built-in EVFs, those cameras have to support silent shooting modes (which allows them to operate without mechanical vibration), or they must be able use a shutter release cable (this works because it eliminates mechanical vibration). If you are planning to purchase this gimbal and have one of these types of cameras, it’s best if you do a little research and experimentation before purchasing it. You can check with DJI’s customer service department if you’re unsure about whether or not your specific model would be compatible.

Also keep in mind that this device is very complex and difficult to set up correctly if you’ve never done it before. It took me several attempts over many days before I finally figured out how I needed to properly calibrate the unit so that my shots were clear and crisp rather than blurry or hazy.[10] This might be discouraging for some people who want something simple and quick, but I think once someone gets used to using these devices they become easier because they are intuitively designed as compared to other types of video equipment/accessories which are often comprised of many complicated parts/components (such as large video tripods).[11] Even though there will always be new technology

The charging port is located on the side of the handle. You can turn off your gimbal or disconnect it from an external power source during charging.

When you turn on the gimbal, you’ll see how much battery life is left in blue digits on its screen.

You can also check your battery level by pressing and holding M button for 1 second and then look at the digit.

It’s foldable design gives you the freedom to create anywhere by easily storing it in your backpack or suitcase.

The RSC 2 is lightweight, at only 3.5 lbs, and has a foldable design giving you the freedom to create anywhere by easily storing it in your backpack or suitcase.

The RSC 2 is the next generation of DJI’s popular Ronin-S gimbal stabilizer, which was built specifically for DSLR and mirrorless cameras. The RSC 2 adds to that legacy with an array of new features including a max payload of 4.4lbs, a higher torque motor design,, as well as ProAccessories compatibility that make it possible to use larger cameras such as the BMPCC 6K and Panasonic S1H on the gimbal platform. It also has an upgraded camera control protocol for even more camera compatibility like shutter release and focus controls for select Sony cameras like the Sony A7S III.

Pro-level video effects bring your footage to life with four one-touch presets (Parallax, Motionlapse, Jumpcut, and Dolly Zoom).

  • Parallax – keep the background stable as you zoom in on your subject for a classic Ken Burns effect.
  • Motionlapse – add dynamic motion to your time-lapse shot and capture your journey from start to finish.
  • Jumpcut – create jump cuts without losing focus, change outfits or props while remaining locked in frame.
  • Dolly Zoom – this jaw dropping effect automatically adjusts your focal length and camera position during a movement to convey tension or unease.

This product is a must have for anyone with a dslr camera

Item Weight2540 Grams
Maximum Weight Recommendation2.5 Kilograms

The first thing you have to do before using any gimbal is balance it. It sounds easy, but if you don’t have some sort of experience with gimbals, it can take a few tries. You will need to balance the three axes: roll (left and right), pitch (up and down) and pan (sideways).

Take your phone or camera, place it in the center of the Zhiyun Crane Plus Pro 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer and make sure that you can easily access all of the buttons you’ll need while recording. Next, slide out all three arms to their outermost position, so all three motors are as far away from your phone/camera as possible. Then close each arm one at a time using the thumbscrews on each motor until your phone or camera barely moves when shaken sideways.

Payload of 1.76 pounds

  • With a payload of 1.76 pounds, the stabilizer is perfect for mirrorless cameras, compact DSLRs, and more.
  • The Crane Plus Pro is compatible with the Weebill Lab gimbal via a multi-mount accessory (available separately).
  • While it’s not designed to support larger cameras like the Panasonic GH5 or Canon 5D Mark III right out of the box, an optional extension kit raises the max payload to 4.4 pounds, making it possible to use some heavier cameras and additional lens supports.

8-hour battery life on a single charge with included 26500 Li-ion batteries

The Zhiyun Crane Plus Pro comes with several 26500 Li-ion batteries that give the gimbal a total of 8 hours of battery life on a single charge. A special charger is included, enabling you to charge all three batteries at the same time. The charger connects to your computer, power bank, or wall socket via USB. The gimbal itself also has an integrated USB port for charging external devices such as phones or cameras.

While this amount of operating time can be enough for most people’s needs, it may not meet the demands of some users—like those who shoot long events or have limited access to power outlets while they’re shooting. Other available gimbals offer more battery life (or at least allow you to swap out batteries more easily), but there are also plenty that don’t come close to matching the Zhiyun’s longevity. When shopping around for a gimbal, consider how much battery life is enough for your intended use cases and what extra measures you’d be willing to take in order to extend it (e.g., bringing along extra batteries).

Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity for using the companion app

Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity allows you to access a Zhiyun gimbal smartphone app that’s compatible with both iOS and Android devices—your phone or tablet serves as an auxiliary, remote monitor and control interface. You can use the app to remotely control the gimbal and camera, or adjust settings such as white balance, focus modes, ISO values, exposure compensation levels, shutter speeds, metering modes, etc. The app can also be used to perform firmware updates on your gimbal.

Fully upgradeable and customizable firmware

The Zhiyun Crane Plus is built with a fully upgradeable and customizable firmware, so you’ll never be left behind on the latest technology. New features and improvements to existing ones are added through free firmware updates available for download on the Zhiyun website. With the Crane Plus, you can stay at the forefront of gimbal technology without having to purchase a whole new stabilizer.

5 ways to switch between different modes

  • Set the gimbal to standby mode.
  • Press and hold the mode button on the handle for at least 3 seconds until you see a blinking LED light.
  • The gimbal is now in standby mode. You can put it away or use it as a stand to display your camera.

The Zhiyun Crane Plus Pro gimbal stabilizer has a payload of up to 1.76 pounds, which is perfect for mirrorless cameras, compact DSLRs, and more.

  • The Zhiyun Crane Plus Pro gimbal stabilizer has a payload of up to 1.76 pounds, which is perfect for mirrorless cameras, compact DSLRs, and more.

It can comfortably support the following types of cameras:

  • Sony:
  • – A6300 (18-55mm kit lens)
  • – A6000 (16-50mm kit lens)
  • Canon M100 (15-45mm kit lens)

And it can hold those that weigh up to about 4 pounds, such as the GH4 with a 12-35mm f/2.8 zoom. Unfortunately, you’re out of luck if you want to use this gimbal with something like a Canon 5D Mark III or Nikon D850, because they’re too heavy.

drwabacks of Zhiyun Crane Plus Pro 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer

On the downside, there are a few drawbacks to the original Zhiyun Crane. Like other gimbals on the market, you have to manually balance it before use. Additionally, while it supports lenses up to 3 pounds in weight, it doesn’t do as well with larger lenses. It’s also missing integrated mounting plates for attaching accessories like lights and microphones, and it lacks a headphone jack so you can monitor audio levels.

The Pro version does include a few upgrades over its predecessor that address some of these issues. For example, although you still need to balance the Zhiyun Crane Plus Pro before use, this new model now includes more counterbalancing weights for fine-tuning your rig—and since they’re all color coded by size and weight, you’ll be able to quickly tell which ones are needed at a glance.
