Best Gaming Laptop That Stays Cool

Best Gaming Laptop That Stays Cool

If you’re a gamer, you know that when you’re in the zone, your laptop can get really hot. And if your computer is too hot, it can slow down or even shut off unexpectedly. That could be really frustrating when you’re in the middle of an important battle or trying to beat the final level of a game. So gamers need laptops that stay cool during longer gaming sessions.

But how can you tell which laptops stay cool while gaming? The answer is simple: You should look for both good ventilation and cooling technology.

Besides good ventilation, cooling technology is also very important. There are two main types of cooling technologies: heat pipes and fans.

Heat pipes are small copper tubes inside the laptop that absorb heat from one spot and move it to another spot where it can dissipate more easily.

They work similarly to heat pumps in refrigerators and air conditioners. The main benefit is that they require very little power to move heat around. But because heat pipes don’t actually create airflow, they aren’t very effective at cooling gaming laptops unless they have a fan as well.

The keyboard offers ample travel for comfortable typing all day long.

When it comes to typing, the ROG Strix Scar 15 (2021) offers a tactile experience that is up there with the best. We didn’t even need to alter our usual typing habits as we typed away on this laptop for hours at a time. The physical travel of the keyboard provided us with enough comfort not to tire our fingers and wrists out. Keys are well-spaced, which is especially helpful for touch typists, and we never experienced any mistyping issues. As far as gaming keyboards go, this is about as good as it gets for productivity.

Scar 15’s speakers sound better than most other laptops in their class.

Of particular interest are the Scar 15’s speakers, which sound better than most others in its class.

The Scar 15 has a physical volume rocker on the left side of the deck, just above the keyboard. It’s a very useful feature for making quick adjustments while you’re gaming, but it would be even more useful if you could use it to adjust the overall system volume. Instead, the rocker only switches between headset and speaker audio output so that you can quickly switch back and forth if you have both plugged in at once. The volume buttons on top of the keyboard are actually what control system volume levels by default.

Both the Strix Scar 15 and 17 are super-comfortable to type on.

When it comes to keyboards, your mileage may vary. However, I found the keys to be super-comfortable, with a nice feel and good travel. The keyboard is fully backlit and features per-key RGB lighting that can be customized through ASUS’ Aura Sync software.

I’m also a big fan of the trackpad. It’s smooth, clickable, and has a satisfying tactile response when pressed down upon. It’s also Microsoft Precision Touchpad certified for quick swipes and gestures in Windows 10. There’s even an LED numpad on the touchpad if you like having those extra options at your fingertips (no pun intended).

Sound-wise, this laptop packs a pair of 2W speakers that sound great for watching movies or playing games—though you might want to invest in a good pair of headphones or gaming headset if you’re doing any intense fragging. The built-in mic picks up voices really well during meetings or gameplay sessions on platforms like Discord or Teamspeak, but I wouldn’t use it for recording music or anything that requires top-notch audio quality.

The trackpad is also very accurate, but I prefer to use a mouse while gaming.

The trackpad is also very accurate, but I prefer to use a mouse while gaming.

If you do decide to use the trackpad, it’s responsive and comfortable to use. Tracking was precise and inputs were registered immediately. The quality of the build is good as well.

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 (2022) is an excellent gaming laptop, with great performance and a beautiful screen

If you want a gaming laptop that can handle the latest games at high settings, you’re going to need a powerful processor and graphics card. The Scar 15 is equipped with both: the latest Intel Core i9-11980HK CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. This makes it the most capable gaming laptop currently available, and it should be able to run any game smoothly on its 144Hz display.

Pros and Cons of ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 (2022) Gaming Laptop

Pros:

  • Comfortable keyboard with ample travel
  • Wide selection of ports and connectivity options
  • Beautiful 15.6-inch display with rich colors and high brightness
  • Excellent cooling system to keep the laptop running quietly during intensive gaming sessions

Cons:

  • Display could be brighter for better outdoor visibility

Drawbacks of ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 (2022) Gaming Laptop

The Scar 15 is fairly heavy and won’t fit in your lap as comfortably as other gaming laptops we’ve tested. The laptop’s hinge is a little too stiff, which means that even if you can get comfortable with it in your lap, moving the screen will be difficult. And like most of its gaming laptop peers, the Scar 15 doesn’t have a webcam on top of the screen, so you’ll need to use an external one for video calls.

Top Features of the HP OMEN X 2S 15-inch Gaming Laptop

The HP OMEN X 2S 15-inch Gaming Laptop provides tons of the latest and most powerful features in a sleek, portable package you’ll be proud to show off.

The top features of this laptop include:

  • 15.6-inch screen (1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution)
  • Intel Core i7 processor
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics
  • 16GB memory (upgradeable to 32GB)
  • 1TB storage (upgradeable to 2TB)
  • Windows 10 operating system (64-bit)
  • Up to 6 hours battery life
  • 6.14 lbs

Advantages of Gaming Laptops

  • Gaming laptops are very fast, and can handle extremely complex graphics and audio. This is important if you want to play games with realistic graphics, or with 3D sound.
  • Gaming laptops come with high quality screens and stereo speakers built in, so you don’t need to buy additional hardware for the best gaming experience.
  • Gaming laptop keyboards are sturdy and comfortable to use for long periods of time. They can also be easily cleaned when liquid is accidentally spilled on them while you’re playing your favorite game after a night of drinking.

Disadvantages of Gaming Laptops

In spite of the many benefits of gaming laptops, there are also a number of disadvantages. When you buy a new laptop, you’re stuck with its initial specs forever. You can’t swap out the GPU or CPU even if they become outdated and slow in a year or two—unlike desktop computers, which are easy to upgrade. Gaming laptops also tend to run hotter than traditional laptops and produce more noise because their fans need to work harder to cool down their higher-end components.

When you factor in high prices and lack of portability, it becomes clear that desktops are still better than laptops for gaming.

These are the best features of this gaming laptop and how to get it for a good price.

  • GORGEOUS DISPLAY

If you’re going to play on a screen, you need a good image to look at. The OMEN X 2S 15-DG0030NR features a 15-inch diagonal FHD 144Hz anti-glare micro-edge WLED-backlit display that’s just as easy on the eyes as it is powerful in performance.

  • 1440p resolution
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card with Max-Q design for immersive, smooth gameplay with cutting edge graphics and next generation NVIDIA Turing architecture.
  • Built for gaming, the OMEN Command Center lets you customize RGB lighting and easily optimize your settings for optimal performance and cooling with HP OMEN Dynamic Power feature. You can also adjust fan speeds, monitor CPU and GPU performance, and tailor controls for select games.

Pros and Cons of OMEN X 2S by HP 2019 15-inch Gaming Laptop

Pros:

  • Well-built and understated design
  • Very good gaming performance
  • Decent battery life for a gaming laptop
  • Bright, vivid display with wide viewing angles and G-Sync support

Cons:

Drawbacks of OMEN X 2S by HP 2019 15-inch Gaming Laptop

Here are the drawbacks of OMEN X 2S by HP 2019 15-inch Gaming Laptop:

  • Price. The MSRP price of the laptop is $2,200 but you can find it for less at other retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon. However, this is still quite a lot of money to spend on a laptop if you’re not a high-level gamer or professional esports competitor.
  • Keyboard. Not everyone will be bothered by this, but I found the keyboard to be too hard to type on because of how loud it is and how much force is required to push down each key. This could make writing long emails or documents difficult, especially since having an uncomfortable keyboard can cause wrist pain over time.
  • Fans. While playing games with the fans turned up full blast, they got very loud. If you plan on using this laptop in an office setting where silent operation is preferred (for example), then you might have trouble controlling the sound level when gaming in that environment.
  • Battery life. The battery life of OMEN X 2S by HP 2019 15-inch Gaming Laptop varies depending on what kind of activity you’re doing with it and how high your screen brightness is set but generally lasts about seven hours before needing another charge—which isn’t very long if all day portability matters to some users out there who demand maximum uptime from their machines at all times no matter where they go or how often they travel internationally for business purposes; just saying that might be something worth considering!

With a sleek, minimalist design and components powerful enough for smooth gaming, the Acer Predator Triton 500 (starts at $1,799; $2,399 as tested) is a strong alternative to the Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model. Sure, Acer’s machine doesn’t offer quite the same level of build quality or battery life as its competitor. But it nonetheless offers a lot to like at a lower price than Razer’s top-end gaming laptop.

With a thin design and powerful graphics hardware, the Acer Predator Triton 500 is a sleek-looking gaming machine that you won’t have to break the bank to afford.

The Triton 500 ($2,399 as tested) has some key advantages over the competing Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model, including an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card with 8GB of dedicated memory.

Acer’s Predator Triton 500 is a gaming laptop aimed at those who want something stylish, powerful, and portable. The device sports Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics cards with 8GB of dedicated memory and a 15.6-inch screen that supports touch input. As the name suggests, Acer is aiming this device at gamers—and after looking over these specifications, you’ll notice that Acer has done an exceptional job creating this machine to suit such a niche audience.

The best thing about this device is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card, which offers some pretty big advantages over traditional laptops. For starters, it’s one of the first laptops to support Nvidia’s new Turing architecture , which allows for blazing-fast performance by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI). The Turing architecture also has other benefits like improved battery life and high-fidelity visual computing through ray tracing , but we’re not going to get into all of them here.

The second best thing about this laptop is its 8GB of RAM . Most laptops on the market are now offering systems with 16GB or more; however, when you compare that amount to our recommended specs (8GB), you’ll realize why we picked so few gigabytes when recommending memory. And in terms of speed, having 16GB would’ve been way too much because it’s more than enough for most games out there right now even though they’re running at higher resolutions today than 4K (2160 x 3840 pixels). In fact, if you go back before 4K was really popular and played games on 1080p resolution instead*—for example, 2000 x 1080 pixels—it won’t be too hard to hit 40 frames per second in modern games even without 8GB of dedicated memory because many games have high settings nowadays (except for maybe simulation games ). Adding an eighth gigabyte isn’t just unnecessary; it could actually make your experience worse.*

The CPU and GPU are liquid cooled via separate heat sinks connected by two rubber tubes.

The CPU and GPU are liquid cooled via separate heat sinks connected by two rubber tubes. While the laptop runs quietly with normal use, the fans do spin up when running a game or other intensive program. The Predator Triton 500’s large speakers produce loud audio that is crisp but lacking in bass.

The Predator Triton 500 has single zone RGB backlighting on the keyboard that can be controlled using Acer’s PredatorSense software, which is preinstalled along with other useful utilities like Killer Control Center, which lets you prioritize network bandwidth usage for certain programs. The laptop also has a fingerprint sensor embedded into the right wrist rest for quick login to your Windows account using Windows Hello.

On the left side are two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, a mini DisplayPort and a Thunderbolt 3 port.

On the left side are two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, a mini DisplayPort and a Thunderbolt 3 port, which is capable of 40Gbps data transfers with certified peripherals such as external GPUs and docks. The right side houses a Kensington lock slot, a headphone jack, an LED indicator and another pair of USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports.

Battery Life The Predator lasted 2 hours and 54 minutes on our web surfing battery test, which is surprisingly low for a gaming laptop, even one with the power of Nvidia’s latest RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics chip inside.

Battery Life

The Predator lasted 2 hours and 54 minutes on our web surfing battery test, which is surprisingly low for a gaming laptop, even one with the power of Nvidia’s latest RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics chip inside.

To put that into context, it’s more than an hour shorter than the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin (4:15) and nearly double that of the Blade 15 (7:11), both of which have less powerful RTX 2080 Max-Q GPUs. If you plan on using this laptop for anything other than gaming, you’ll want to keep it plugged in.

Bottom Line The Acer Predator Triton 500 offers strong performance in a thin body for gamers who don’t have $3,000 to drop on a premium rig like the Alienware m15 R1 or Razer Blade 15 Advanced Edition.

The Acer Predator Triton 500 offers strong performance in a thin body for gamers who don’t have $3,000 to drop on a premium rig like the Alienware m15 R1 or Razer Blade 15 Advanced Edition.

The laptop costs $2,999 , which is still expensive compared with most other gaming laptops.

This laptop offers strong performance in a thin body for gamers who don’t have $3,000 to drop on a premium rig like the Alienware m15 R1 or Razer Blade 15 Advanced Edition.

For the price, the Predator Triton 500 provides excellent performance and a good amount of storage for gaming. However, this laptop isn’t the best value in its price range.

The MSI GS65 Stealth Thin delivers better overall performance than the Predator Triton 500 at the same price point. The GS65 Stealth Thin also has a more vibrant display than the Predator, but it doesn’t have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card or as much storage.

If you have an extra $300 to spend on a gaming laptop, I recommend going with the Alienware m15 R1 or Razer Blade 15 Advanced Edition, instead of going with this Acer model. The Alienware m15 R1 and Razer Blade 15 Advanced Edition both offer better performance for your money and longer battery life. None of these laptops come with a built-in optical drive, so if you need one, consider buying an external drive separately for about $70 on Amazon

Pros and Cons of Acer Predator Triton 500 Thin & Light Gaming Laptop

Pros

  • Eye-catching design with a slim profile
  • Fast performance from its Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU
  • Solid battery life for a gaming laptop

Drawbacks of Acer Predator Triton 500 Thin & Light Gaming Laptop

  • No G-Sync support: While the Triton does have a 144Hz refresh rate, it does not have G-sync, which helps your graphics card and monitor work together to reduce input lag and screen tearing.
  • Battery life is short: The battery on this laptop has a capacity of 57.5 Wh (watt-hours), which is good enough for just over four hours of video playback on a single charge. If you want to do something like editing video or playing graphics-intensive games, that battery life will be even worse—in my testing with these tasks, I was getting closer to two hours of use before needing to charge up again. That’s pretty poor compared to other gaming laptops that can provide several more hours of use.
  • Only one USB Type-A port: If you aren’t familiar with USB Type-C ports yet, you soon will be—they are becoming more common as time goes on. But if you’re still holding onto some older peripherals with full-sized USB ports (that’s Type A), then the Triton might frustrate you: there’s only one port available for them, and that lone port isn’t in the ideal location if you’re also plugging in an HDMI cable or any number of other connectors into the back side.

Acer recently announced updates to its Predator Helios 700 laptop, adding a 300Hz display option, Intel 10th Gen processors and Nvidia Super GPUs; we’ll update our review when we get those models in for testing.

The Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop 2019 is an excellent gaming laptop in every way. It has the best design, performance, and battery life of any gaming laptop I’ve tested this year.

If you’re looking for a no-compromise gaming laptop that travels well, the Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop 2019 is your best bet. However, it’s not perfect. The display could be more colorful and brighter. And while I appreciate the improved keyboard, it lacks macro keys and a number pad – my two biggest requests for the next version of this gaming laptop are to add those features along with additional USB Type-A ports (it only has one).

Razer Blade 15

The Razer Blade 15 is a gaming laptop. It is an excellent gaming laptop in every way.

Design

The Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop 2019 comes in a black aluminum chassis. It has a 0.78 by 14.09 by 9.25-inch (HWD) footprint and the base model weighs 4 pounds, while the Advanced Model weighs 4.63 pounds with its larger battery. The Advanced Model also gets you a per-key RGB keyboard, which is just icing on the cake of what’s already an excellent gaming laptop design wise.

The touchpad is smooth and responsive, but it’s positioned to the left of center–closer to the leftmost edge than it is to the middle–which might be irritating for some people who are used to having it more in line with the spacebar or off-center like on Apple laptops. There’s a Windows Hello-compatible IR camera above the display that works quickly at recognizing faces and logging you in via facial recognition, but it could use better placement: It looks up your nose instead of straight at your face when you’re sitting right in front of it, so make sure you tilt your head down slightly before logging in if you want to avoid technical difficulties! The display itself is great though: I like that Razer offers 1080p 144Hz or 4K 60Hz options, as well as a 1080p 240Hz panel on higher end configurations (like ours). Those displays support Nvidia G-Sync technology for reduced screen tearing and have 100% sRGB color gamut coverage (though only 60% Adobe RGB). They’re also very bright at 300 nits maximum brightness; Razer claims up to 400 nits for some models though we haven’t tested those yet! If money isn’t an issue then definitely consider upgrading from entry level configurations because there are so many benefits here compared to other laptops including longer battery life due to less powerful processors being used in non-“advanced” versions as well as improved cooling systems which allow users an extended amount time between charges when playing games or watching videos without overheating issues affecting performance levels over

Performance

The performance of the Razer Blade 15 is top-notch. It’s one of the few laptops on the market that crams a six-core Intel i7-8750H processor, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD into its 0.7-inch-thick chassis.

At this very minute, I am streaming Spotify while running half a dozen Chrome tabs (including Giphy and Tweetdeck) with two Google docs pulled up, and my laptop hasn’t slowed down once.

Battery Life

The Razer Blade 15’s battery life is good, but it’s nothing to write home about.

Laptop Mag tested the Blade 15 with a 1080p screen and found that it lasted for four hours and six minutes of continuous web surfing. You should expect longer battery life from gaming laptops like the Alienware m15 (4:56), the Gigabyte Aero 15X (4:53) and the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin (4:36). Not quite as long-lasting are competitors like the Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX531 (3:49) and the Razer Blade Pro 17 (3:18).

When playing games, you can expect even worse results, as our test model’s 4K display drains power more quickly than a 1080p one. After playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 150 nits of brightness with both graphics cards running simultaneously — we saw an hour and 43 minutes of uptime before it shut down. This should be enough time to complete most missions in most games, but it won’t get you through a full workday or through two different sessions on one charge.

Verdict

If you’re looking for the best gaming laptop money can buy, the Razer Blade 15 is it. Beautiful design, solid build quality, excellent performance and a fantastic keyboard come together in a remarkably slim package. The only real problem is that paying this much for any laptop is hard to do — but if you have the cash, it’s worth it.

The Razer Blade 15 is an excellent gaming laptop in every way — though you’ll pay for the privilege.

The Razer Blade 15 is a premium gaming laptop that’s also an excellent choice for work and general use. It has a slim design, strong build quality and powerful performance specs including an Intel Core i7-8750H processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q graphics card and 16GB of RAM.

Pros and Cons of Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop 2019

  • PROS:
  • By far the best design for a gaming laptop
  • A great improvement in performance over its predecessors.
  • Amazing battery life with a 70Wh battery.
  • CONS:
  • The price tag is $2,000.

Drawbacks of Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop 2019

As many things as there are to like about the Razer Blade 15, it isn’t perfect. Its display is a little dim for our tastes, averaging just 262 nits in our testing. It also has a relatively short battery life of just 5 hours and 3 minutes on our test, which involves continuous web surfing over Wi-Fi at 150 nits of screen brightness.

On top of that, Razer didn’t include a webcam on this configuration, which means you’ll either have to buy one separately or make do with your smartphone camera for video chat. Since this is an expensive machine to begin with (it costs $1,999), we would have liked to have seen other features like Thunderbolt 3 and a more-colorful display included here.

The MSI P65 Creator-1084 is an excellent laptop for creatives. It packs great performance in a thin and light body, it has a nice 4K display, good battery life, and Thunderbolt 3. The only thing that we don’t like about the design is the webcam placement on the bottom of the screen.

The keyboard is comfortable, it has per-key RGB backlighting and even though it’s not that loud, you can hear each key individually when you type on it. The touchpad is precise and feels nice to use but it doesn’t support Windows Precision drivers which means you won’t have access to all Windows gestures. The speakers are powerful and they produce good audio but they’re still not loud enough if you’re going to be in a noisy environment or outdoors while listening to music or watching movies.

Our unit came with 512GB of storage in 1 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD which is plenty of space for most users out there who are looking at this laptop but if you need more storage space then you can easily add another SSD or an external drive over Thunderbolt 3 (or USB Type-A).

A powerful laptop with a 4k display and built for creative professionals

MSI’s P65 Creator-1084 15.6″ 4K UHD Display, Ultra-Thin and Light

While this may be a laptop geared toward creative professionals looking to make some of the most stunning videos, photos, and games possible on a powerful machine, it’s also the ideal laptop for anyone who wants a versatile machine that they can take anywhere with them. Consider the fact that you can use this rig as an advanced editing station for video, or carry it around in your back pocket to edit photos and video on the go. If you need to store more than just one device—it has enough ports to work as your main computing products—this might be the perfect system for you. It’s not your average gaming laptop either; if you’re into playing games on a regular basis but have no idea how much RAM and storage space you need for intensive gaming sessions, this is probably not the right choice for you. The 12GB of RAM should be more than enough for all kinds of PC games and multi-purpose tasks: from rendering video clips from your favorite YouTubers all day long with ease up until being able to run demanding programs like Premiere Pro with ease (without having to cap performance by lowering resolution).

Memory: 8GB DDR4 RAM

  • This laptop contains 8GB of DDR4 RAM. If you don’t understand what this means, it’s okay! I’ll explain:
  • DDR4 RAM is one component of your computer that determines how much you can do at once.
  • RAM is like a car’s engine: the bigger the engine, the more things you can pull with your truck. Your computer does lots of different things at once, and these activities all compete for some of your computer’s power to do them. More RAM means that more programs can be busy at once without slowing things down too much.
  • That said, 8GB of RAM is usually enough for most people and most activities they might want to do on a computer, especially if they’re not playing modern video games or doing professional-level photo or video editing (this laptop will let you play some games and do some editing though!). Some people need 16GB or 32GB or even more if they’re really doing serious work on their computers (some specialized applications use a lot of power), but it’s also possible to get by with less than 8GB in certain cases. So really, 8GB is a good compromise between price and performance!

Storage: 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD +1TB HDD

Storage: 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD + 1TB HDD

Get the best of both worlds with dual drives. A generous 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD offers lightning-fast bootup and loading times, while a 1TB HDD provides ample space to store your games, pictures, videos and music.

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5 with Max-Q Design

The GeForce GTX 1650 is built with the breakthrough graphics performance of the award-winning NVIDIA Turing™ architecture. With up to 2x the performance of the GeForce GTX 950, it’s a supercharger for today’s most popular games, and even faster with modern titles. The GTX 1650 is not just about high-resolution gaming. Computationally intensive programs can utilize the GPU’s 1536 cores to accelerate tasks using CUDA or other APIs.

Great for work or leisure, this laptop has an impressive battery life that keeps up with you throughout the day without needing a charge so you can stay productive anywhere with ease.

Camera: 0.3MP or 1MP camera with mic

Pros and Cons of Newest Lenovo Ideapad L340 17.3″ FHD IPS Premium Gaming Laptop PC

Pros:

  • The laptop is great for gaming. It comes with a 17.3-inch display, which lets you enjoy a more immersive experience. It has an IPS panel and a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080p so you can expect the visuals to be sharp and vibrant. Furthermore, there’s anti-glare technology integrated into the screen that reduces eye strain.
  • Aesthetically speaking, this model is slick and very attractive. It has clean lines along with a minimalist design that isn’t cluttered by unnecessary accents or flamboyant touches. On top of that, it has a textured finish that gives it an added dimension while also minimizing fingerprint smudges and other smears on its surface (which makes it easier to keep clean).
  • If you’re someone who usually works in dimly lit areas or at night, then the keyboard backlight will be quite useful to you since it’ll allow you to see what you’re doing in those situations without having to strain your eyes or squint too much just so can get some work done on your computer without being disturbed by glare from outside lights coming through nearby windows (or turning on all interior lights).

Drawbacks of Newest Lenovo Ideapad L340 17.3″ FHD IPS Premium Gaming Laptop PC

Every laptop has its flaws, and the Lenovo L340 is no exception. While it does have some redeeming qualities, such as a full-size keyboard with number pad and a slim bezel for its price range, it’s important to keep these drawbacks in mind:

  • The L340 doesn’t come with a DVD drive. If this is important to you or your work, look elsewhere.
  • The power button is on the side of the laptop rather than toward the top. It’s also very small compared to other laptops’ power buttons and could possibly get hidden by an extra long fingernail or ring when pressed.
  • The keyboard is not backlit. This can make typing in dim lighting difficult if you’re already used to backlit keyboards on other laptops. Like the power button issue above, this could lead to more typos than normal unless you type slowly and carefully while making sure everything’s being registered correctly onscreen (or use a Bluetooth keyboard).
  • The laptop weighs 5 pounds! Even though it’s not exactly heavy, it’s still heavier than other laptops in its class that don’t have 17″ screens.

The Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop is a very good buy at its reasonable price point, and has a few unique features that make it stand out from the crowd.

It’s a solid value laptop, with strong performance for the money. The design is also good-looking and built well enough to withstand some bumps and bruises on the way to LAN parties. Battery life is also good for a gaming machine, so you can get some work done in between rounds of Fortnite (or whatever your favorite game happens to be). The keyboard is also very good, with keys that are responsive and easy to press.

It’s not a perfect laptop, however.

While this laptop is an overall good value, it’s not perfect.

You won’t find a Thunderbolt 3 port on the Nitro 5, nor will you find any biometric security. If you need a fingerprint reader or webcam, you’ll have to look elsewhere. There’s also no SD card reader and no backlighting on the keyboard.

If there are any problems to be found with this machine, they’re almost entirely on the software side of things.

As for the other components, the keyboard is a tad on the shallow side, though easy enough to adjust to. The trackpad is perhaps a bit too sensitive, but otherwise works as intended.

The only major hindrances are on the software side of things—specifically, Acer’s “Acer Care Center” and its various shortcuts that came pre-installed. Some of these programs have an annoying habit of popping up even when disabled in Windows’ “Task Manager” utility. A quick trip down to your local Best Buy or Walmart should do wonders to remedy this issue with a simple purchase of an external mouse and keyboard combination, so if you’re looking for an all-in-one gaming solution at a very attractive price point, look no further than this laptop.

If you’re looking for a gaming laptop that’ll give you everything you need and then some, look no further than the Nitro 5.

If you’re looking for a gaming laptop that’ll give you everything you need and then some, look no further than the Nitro 5. This is a powerful gaming laptop that won’t break the bank. It’s well built, has good battery life, and runs all games smoothly. The screen is great and it has excellent performance thanks to its AMD Ryzen processor.

The Acer Nitro 5 is an exceptional gaming laptop for the price.

With a powerful Nvidia graphics card, an SSD for speedy load times, and a price that’s well under the going rate for gaming laptops, the Acer Nitro 5 is an exceptional gaming laptop for the price.

Pros and Cons of Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop

PROS:

  • Solid entry-level gaming laptop. It’s capable of playing many games at medium or high settings at 60+ fps, or 1080p games at high settings at 30+ fps.
  • Affordable with a sleek design and a gamer aesthetic. It has red accents around the keyboard and fans, with a black chassis paneled by blue lights.
  • Quiet fans, despite being a gaming laptop. They won’t spin up often because it runs cool, but when they do the volume is reasonable for day-to-day use (unless you’re using them for something very intensive).
  • Lightweight for its size. Just over 5 pounds, so it’s easy to carry around in your backpack if needed.

Drawbacks of Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop

Overall, if you’re looking for a budget gaming laptop, the Nitro 5 isn’t a bad pick. While there are clearly some drawbacks to this product, such as the battery life and overall display quality, it’s still a perfectly serviceable computer that will meet your needs without being too demanding of your wallet.
