A home theater system is a great way to enhance your movie viewing experience and watching movies at home with friends and family becomes so much more fun when you have a full-fledged surround sound system set up in your room. It is also better than going to a theater because it is cheaper, you get to choose what movies you want to watch and you don’t have to worry about getting popcorn spilled on your clothes in the cinema hall.

While choosing a 5.1 receiver, there are certain factors that one needs to keep in mind. The most important factor is the power output, which determines how loud the speakers will be able to go and how much bass they will be able to produce.

A receiver is the hub of your home theater system. It’s what you use to connect all of the components in your entertainment center and make them work together. In more advanced setups, it also processes video signals like 4K HDR and passes them along to compatible displays. Receivers are usually 5.1-channel or 7.2-channel models (the number refers to how many speakers they support), but some can have as many as 14 channels!

5.1-Channel 3D Ready AV Receiver with Ultra HD (4K) Pass-through

The Pioneer VSX-523 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver is an AV receiver that is designed to handle all of your home theater needs. It has five speakers and a subwoofer and can also be used for music listening. It has Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio decoding, Dolby Pro Logic IIz, Dolby Pro Logic IIx and DTS Neo:6 processing so you can enjoy your movies and music with high quality sound. This model includes an HD video upscaler that allows you to play DVDs in 720p or 1080i resolution on any monitor or TV set with HDMI inputs (up to 1920 x 1080). The HDMI repeater function lets you connect devices such as game consoles directly into the back of the receiver rather than through another component.

HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel

The receiver has HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel, which allows you to connect your Blu-ray player, satellite/cable box and gaming console in the same room with an HDMI cable to enjoy true high-definition multichannel surround sound.

In addition, the VSX-523 offers a front panel USB port for playing music files from an iPod or iPhone.

MCACC Auto Room Tuning

MCACC Auto Room Tuning

The MCACC setup microphone measures the speaker size, distances and wall positions to tune your system automatically. Time Alignment (delay) is also measured to ensure that sound is reproduced as naturally as possible.

4K Ultra HD (Upscale 1080p for 4K)

  • 4K Ultra HD (Upscale 1080p for 4K): This is a huge step up from the last generation of receivers, which could only upscale to 720p. 4K offers four times the resolution of Full HD, making it much more detailed and lifelike than anything you’ve ever seen on your screen before. Currently, there are few sources that can take advantage of this resolution but they’re quickly gaining popularity with streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
  • HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel (ARC): HDMI ARC lets you connect all your compatible audio components without needing separate cables or adapters so that all connected devices play sound through your receiver’s speaker system, not just one speaker at a time.

pro and cons of Pioneer VSX-523 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver (Black)

Pros:

  • This is a well-designed unit that is easy to use and gets the job done. It has plenty of features to help you get the most out of your home theater system.
  • The Pioneer VSX-523 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver (Black) offers excellent performance at a great price point. If you’re looking for something more affordable than competing products, but still want decent sound quality and features, then this receiver should be at the top of your list!

4-in/1-out HDMI

The HDMI input and output on the VSX-523 are one of the most important features of this receiver. It allows you to connect your TV or Blu-ray player directly to your receiver, which will make it much easier to control everything from one source.

HDMI stands for “High Definition Multimedia Interface” and was designed by Sony, Hitachi, Matsushita (the Panasonic brand), Philips and Toshiba in 2003 as an interface between home theater equipment and consumer electronics devices like computers. The most common type of connection is HDMI Type A, which is used for high definition video such as movies or television shows (1080p). It also supports 7.1 surround sound channels so that you can get the full experience when watching a movie or TV show!

drwabacks of Pioneer VSX-523 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver (Black)

The Pioneer VSX-523 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver (Black), though a great receiver, is not without its faults. I don’t like that it doesn’t have much bass. The only thing I don’t like about this receiver is that there’s not enough bass.

drwabacks fo YAMAHA RX-V385 5.1-Channel 4K Ultra HD AV Receiver with Bluetooth

I bought this receiver to replace an older one that was starting to fail. This new one has a lot of good features, but it is missing some things that I really wanted. When it comes to sound quality and video processing, this receiver does well for the money, but it lacks some advanced features such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround decoding. You also have to use separate HDMI cables for audio and video if you want to take advantage of those advanced codecs. The only way around this is if you buy an expensive HDMI 2.1 cable (which will cost more than the receiver itself) or if you use an optical digital connection instead of HDMI.

The Bluetooth setup was not very easy at first because there were two different ways I could connect my phone via Bluetooth – either to the main zone or zone 2 separately (and they were both named “Bluetooth”). Once I figured out which one worked better with my phone (it actually turned out zone 2), everything else went smoothly after that point – no problems connecting devices through bluetooth ever since then!

5.Denon S650H AV Receiver,

BrandDenon
Connectivity TechnologyBluetooth

Item Dimensions LxWxH13.3 x 17.1 x 6 inches
Output Wattage150 Watts
Compatible DevicesTelevision, Speaker
Item Weight9200 Grams

Control MethodVoice

This Denon S650H AV Receiver is the perfect way to upgrade your home theater system and experience all of the latest entertainment. It offers 4K pass-through, Dolby Atmos support and built-in Wi-Fi for streaming music from services like iTunes and Spotify. With 150 watts per channel (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7% THD), it can power any speakers for an immersive sound experience that will take you away from your everyday life.

Surround sound and 3D audio

Once you’ve got your audio system set up, you can enjoy a full home theater experience. The Denon S650H is equipped with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, which means that you can hear all of the latest 3D audio formats.

Dolby Atmos technology allows for pinpoint sound placement in a room. It features six-channel or eight channel models, as well as upward firing drivers to reflect sound off your ceiling or walls. You can also use the Denon S650H as an A/V receiver by connecting it to your TV via HDMI cables, allowing you to play games on the big screen without any extra equipment. The Denon S650H supports 4K resolution content, which is great if you have a 4K television in your living room!

eARC compatible

eARC, which is short for enhanced audio return channel, allows for uncompressed and object-based audio from the TV to the receiver. eARC is only compatible with HDMI 2.1 and not ARC (audio return channel). If your receiver doesn’t support eARC, you can still enjoy high-quality audio by using a single optical cable instead of two separate cables.

The first step in connecting your TV to an A/V receiver is running an HDMI cable from the back of your TV to one of the inputs on your receiver (you’ll want one that supports 4K UHD resolution). However, if you want to take advantage of Dolby Vision or Atmos, then you’ll need another set up: You’ll need to run coaxial cables from both Dolby Vision or Atmos-enabled sources like Blu-ray players or gaming consoles directly into their respective inputs on your receiver (if possible) so that none of those signals get lost in translation during transmission through HDMI alone—it’s best practice when possible!

Quick select buttons

A feature that you’ll appreciate is the quick select buttons on the remote. These buttons allow you to choose your favorite sources and control them without having to go into menus.

The Denon S650H AV receiver has a lot of great features that make it easy to use, including:

  • Quick select buttons on the remote control
  • USB/AirPlay/Bluetooth/Spotify Connect music streaming capability

Built in HEOS technology

The built-in HEOS technology means you can connect to any HEOS-enabled device, so you can play music from your phone or computer. With high resolution audio support and access to a variety of music streaming services, it’s easy to find the right playlist for any occasion.

More connectivity options than ever before

You’ll be able to connect six HDMI video devices, including two with 4K/60p Ultra HD and HDR compatibility. The HDMI inputs are compatible with HDCP 2.2 copy protection, which allows you to watch movies from streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video on your TV without stuttering or freezing.

The receiver also supports eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel), which is a new technology that provides higher quality audio for your TV’s built-in apps such as Netflix, Hulu, and others that support Dolby Atmos or DTS:X surround sound formats. In addition, the Denon S650H AV Receiver uses upgraded HDCP 2.2 copy protection for content playback from online streaming services and game consoles like XBox One S or PlayStation 4 gaming console

pro and cons of Denon S650H AV Receiver, 5.2 Channel (150W X 5) 4K UHD Home Theater Surround Sound (2019) | Music Streaming | HEOS Built-in | eARC and Upgraded HDCP

  • Pros:
  • Versatile – The Denon S650H AV Receiver is designed to be versatile, with 4K Ultra HD video support and HEOS built-in so you can stream music throughout your home. It also supports eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel), which enables compatible TVs to send audio back through the HDMI cable to the receiver. This means you can use a single cable for both pictures and sound from your TV. You can also enjoy immersive 3D audio via Dolby Atmos® or DTS:X™ playback for an even greater entertainment experience.
  • High performance – With 150 watts per channel (7 channels), the Denon S650H AV Receiver delivers immersive surround sound that’s perfect for movies, gaming systems, streaming apps and more! Plus it includes Dolby Atmos® decoding capability along with DTS:X™ object-based surround sound processing for an exceptional audio experience in any room at any volume level.
  • Connectivity options – Enjoy all of your favorite content on almost any screen using this receiver’s extensive connectivity options including 7 HDMI inputs as well as 2 outputs that support 4K/60p 4:4:4 video pass-through (HDMI 1-5)**

The new Denon S650H brings all of the features you need to create the best home theater experience possible.

The new Denon S650H AV receiver is a 5.2 channel, 150W per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2ch driven) AV receiver that supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersive audio formats. It also has eARC support for 3D audio from your TV apps to the receiver via HDMI connection and can pass through copy protected 4K/HDR content for Ultra HD Blu-ray disc playback on your compatible display. The S650H features HEOS built-in technology so you can easily play music from multiple rooms in houses or apartments without running wires all over your home. The S650H supports Apple AirPlay 2 which allows you to wirelessly stream music directly from your iPhone or iPad device without having to connect a physical network cable between them–just enable it on both devices then stream instantly!

drwabacks of Denon S650H AV Receiver, 5.2 Channel (150W X 5) 4K UHD Home Theater Surround Sound (2019) | Music Streaming | HEOS Built-in | eARC and Upgraded HDCP

  • The Denon S650H features Bluetooth connectivity, but you can only use it to stream music from your smartphone or tablet. You cannot pair wireless headphones with this receiver and listen to them wirelessly. If you want to listen to audio from a device without wires, use the optical input instead of Bluetooth for a better listening experience.
  • This AV receiver does not have enough channels for 7.1 surround sound or even 5.1 surround sound; the most it can do is 4K Ultra HD resolution with Dolby Atmos (or DTS:X) multichannel matrix decoding up to 7.2 channels and 150 watts per channel (20Hz – 20kHz, THD 0.08% @ 8 ohms 1Khz). This means that if you want exact channel matching between your speakers and center speaker, it may not be possible due to lack of channels on this receiver!
  • There is no HDMI ARC (audio return channel) support so there will be no way to send audio signals back through one HDMI cable from your TV set-top box into this AV receiver via ARC support so if you want more than stereo sound output then stick with standard line level connections instead!

The Pioneer VSX-934 7.2-ch Network AV Receiver is equipped with an advanced video section and dedicated video processing, ensuring that you’ll get the most out of your home cinema system. The receiver features a variety of high quality video processing modes including:

  • No Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization
  • No IMAX Enhanced
  • No Built-in Wi-Fi

Ready for the future of audio and video formats

  • Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization: This surround technology has three elements. First, there are speakers mounted in the ceiling, which positions them to reflect sound off the floor and ceiling. Second, there are upward-firing drivers built into the front stage of your speaker system that fire high frequency audio up toward the ceiling—and thirdly, there’s a dedicated power amp (which can be used with any compatible model) to focus on delivering clean bass tones up to 120Hz for an immersive listening experience.
  • DTS:X: DTS:X is among a new group of technologies known as object-based audio decoding formats that provide users with a more natural sounding listening experience by “removing” sound from its original location in order to make it sound like it is coming from somewhere else within your room. Using what’s called “virtual” object positioning algorithms developed by DTS rather than conventional processing methods such as reverb or delay effects processing routines means you’ll hear sounds move around you as if they were really there in real life instead of simply being played back through speakers mounted on walls or ceilings. You’ll also get phantom channels—surround sounds without needing additional speakers!

The Pioneer VSX-934 is a great AV receiver that supports a number of immersive audio and video formats.

The Pioneer VSX-934 supports a variety of audio and video formats to ensure that you can enjoy your favorite movies, music, and shows in top quality. The Pioneer VSX-934 also has DTS:X, which is an immersive audio format that provides an upmix from stereo or 5.1 surround to 7.1 or 9.1 channels of surround sound for maximum immersion for your home theater system; it also supports DTS Play-Fi wireless streaming audio technology, Chromecast built-in for streaming music from mobile devices like smartphones and tablets; FlareConnect lets you stream multiple sources around the house using just one connection point – so no matter where you want to watch content from, there’s no need for additional cables!

pro and cons of Pioneer VSX-934 7.2-ch Network AV Receiver

This AV receiver features excellent sound quality. It has an amplifier output power of 130 W, with 8 ohms load, stereo and bridge mono. The processor is also capable of processing multi-channel high-resolution audio (up to 192 kHz/24 bit).

This is a mid-range AV receiver that provides great value for the money.

You can connect it to your TV and other audio devices, like a Blu-Ray player or gaming console. It has a wide range of connections available, including HDMI inputs and outputs, as well as coaxial, optical and analogue RCA inputs. You can also use one of its two HDMI outputs to connect to an additional display device so you can watch movies in surround sound while someone else watches a different program on another screen in the same room (or even in another room).

4K/60 Hz-Capable HDMI 2. 1 Terminals for Playing the Latest Games and 4K Streaming

With the Onkyo TX-SR494 AV Receiver, you can enjoy 4K Ultra HD with HDR (High Dynamic Range) video content. HDR reproduces a greater dynamic range of luminosity or brightness levels, bringing greater contrast to the screen. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth.

This receiver supports HDMI 2. 1 terminals for playing UHD Blu-ray players and other 4K devices in native 60 Hz frame rates. It also supports Dolby Vision™ and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) pass through for future compatible sources such as Xbox One S/X2, PlayStation®4 Pro/5, Chromecast Ultra and Apple TV 4K so you can enjoy them without needing any additional equipment beyond this receiver!

The Onkyo TX-SR494 has four HDMI inputs along with two HDMI outputs: one main out (which connects directly to your TV) and one subwoofer out (which connects directly to your subwoofer). This means that if you want to run two different devices through this AV receiver at once—such as an HDTV game console plus a Blu-ray player—you need an extra splitter cable between those devices because only one signal path can go through each input or output terminal at once! However: if both sources happen features built-in streaming services like Netflix or Hulu Plus then there’s no problem; just connect them both into any other free port after selecting which ones should display on your TV screen first….

Supports Dolby Atmos and DTS: X Playback to Fill Your Room with Object-Based Sound; Supports 5. 2. 2-Ch or 2. 2. 2-Ch Dolby Atmos, DTS: X Layouts

The TX-SR494 is equipped with Dolby Atmos and DTS: X playback capabilities, which allow you to experience home theater at a new level of realism.

Dolby Atmos uses ceiling or upwards firing speakers to produce a multi-dimensional sound that places you inside the action on screen. DTS:X also features object based audio coding that lets sound designers place sounds exactly where they want them so you can hear the roar of airplanes flying overhead or reflections from multiple sides. You can even get up to 6 channels of independent surround processing for what’s known as “5.2.2-Ch” or “7.1.4-Ch” channel layouts, depending on your speaker configuration (see below).

The TX-SR494 has eight HDMI inputs (1 front) with HDCP 2.2 support and three HDMI outputs (front/rear/Zone 2) with full 4K UHD video upscaling via HDMI inputs; it also supports Dolby Vision video signal pass through along with HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision content mastering formats

80 W per Channel (6 OHMS, 20 HZ 20 KHZ, 0. 08% THD, 2 CHANNELS DRIVEN, FTC); 155 W per Channel (6 OHMS, 1 KHZ, 0. 9% THD, 1 CHANNEL DRIVEN)

You can activate voice control right from your receiver. It’s easy to use and works with Google Home, too. Just say “Hey Google…” or “Ok Google…” and then tell the Google Assistant what to do — like play music, turn a track up or down, change the volume and more.*1

You can also use your smartphone or tablet to control your home entertainment system using the Onkyo Remote app (for iOS and Android). The app lets you control playback of TIDAL HiFi content on select models equipped with Chromecast built-in*1; adjust receiver settings; operate networked components connected via HDMI®/HDMI® cable (varies by model) and access music services such as Spotify®, Deezer*2* (*requires firmware update), TIDAL*, TuneIn*3 (*requires firmware update); plus much more.

drwabacks of Onkyo TX-SR494 AV Receiver with 4K Ultra HD | Dolby Atmos | DTS: X | Hi-Res Audio (2019 Model)

  • The Onkyo TX-SR494 is a great choice for those who want to stream music from their smartphone or tablet, though it’s possible that the lack of support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD might be a dealbreaker for some.
  • It has no support for high-resolution audio file formats like FLAC or WAV, meaning you can’t play many lossless songs through your receiver.
  • There is no HDMI eARC on this model, so if you want to use an HDMI ARC cable with your TV to send audio back to the receiver without having to run an optical cable (which would require extra wiring), then this model may not work well with your setup.

This receiver has plenty of HDMI inputs, built-in Bluetooth connectivity, and it even comes with Dolby Atmos processing capabilities. With this kind of functionality available on one unit, it’s no wonder why so many people are choosing to purchase this product!

However, before making a final decision about whether or not this device will be right for your needs please take note of some of its disadvantages listed below:

It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object based audio.

The TX-NR585 supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object based audio. This means that it is capable of producing an ultra-realistic soundscape with a three dimensional quality, which will make you feel like you’re part of the action. The TX-NR585 also offers 2ch of Dolby Atmos, DTS:X (5.2ch) Ready, and 7 channels of high resolution audio for compatibility with lossless music formats such as WAV, FLAC and ALAC.

DTS Neural:X identifies spatial effects in multichannel soundtracks, and upmixes for 3D playback through your 5.1/7.1 surround sound system.

DTS Neural:X identifies spatial effects in multichannel soundtracks, and upmixes for 3D playback through your 5.1/7.1 surround sound system. DTS:X features Object-based Audio decoding for the most accurate reproduction of source content.

With the ability to control a 9 channel speaker layout plus subwoofer via Onkyo’s proprietary AccuEQ calibration process, you can be sure that your home theater system sounds great no matter where you sit or stand in the room.

Playback of 4K/60 Hz video, HDR (High Dynamic Range), and BT.2020 pass-through, DSD decoding, Dolby Vision compatibility and HDCP 2.2 content protection for next generation UltraHD streaming and broadcasting; 6 HDMI inputs and 1 output for TV and projector connection with HDCP 2.2 support

Now that you have your Onkyo TX-NR585 setup, it’s time to explore its many features. The 7.2 channel receiver has a lot of great capabilities, but some of them are outdated. For example, the device doesn’t support Chromecast or AirPlay 2 compatibility. This means that if you want to stream music from your smartphone or tablet onto the receiver, you’ll need to use Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi or Ethernet networking.

Other than this one drawback (which isn’t really much of one), this receiver is packed with amazing technology such as 4K/60 Hz video pass-through and HDR10 compatibility as well as BT2020 support and DSD decoding for high quality audio file playback without any lossy compression artifacts like MP3s suffer from when compressing songs into smaller files sizes so they can be stored more efficiently on devices like hard drives or SD cards in phones/tablets/laptops etc..

As far as other features go, the Onkyo TX-NR585 has six HDMI inputs, but only one output. It also has an RS232 port and 12V trigger output. There are no XLR or RCA inputs, just a pair of stereo RCA jacks on the front panel.

The unit has two subwoofer preamp outputs that let you connect two subs without needing to add any additional external amps. The receiver’s subwoofer crossover is variable from 40Hz to 120Hz and includes a phase switch for optimizing bass response in your room. Finally, there’s a 7-channel amplifier driving all channels at 105 watts per channel into 8 ohms (or 90 watts per channel into 4 ohms).
